Honestly, didn't know what to expect from a smaller hospital in Abbeville, LA, but Abbeville General Hospital totally surprised me. The entire staff from admitting through my surgery and two-day stay couldn't have been better. The surgery team and second-floor nurses were super professional and attentive. For anyone in Vermilion Parish needing surgery or hospital care, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place. They really made a stressful time much easier.
Thanks for trusting us with your surgery and hospital stay in Abbeville. We're glad our team in the surgery department and on the second floor made a difference. At Abbeville General Hospital in Louisiana, we're here whenever you or your family need care.
If you're a woman going to Abbeville General Hospital in pain, be prepared to be treated like a liar seeking drugs before they even check you out. This is why women in Abbeville ignore symptoms - we're not taken seriously. A guy named Justin accused multiple people I know of drug-seeking when they've never done drugs. Nurse practitioner Julia is abusive and assumes everyone wants pain meds. Not everyone likes pain medication like they think at this hospital.

My mom had to be rushed to the ER in Abbeville, LA because it was closest to her home - she would've died trying to get to Lafayette. But the night shift in the Emergency Department at Abbeville General Hospital was awful. A nurse practitioner was grabbing and throwing my mom's arms while others just watched, and when my mom pulled away, a nurse threatened her. She still cries about it. I'd never bring family here again for emergency care.
We take your concerns about our Emergency Department in Abbeville very seriously. At Abbeville General Hospital in Louisiana, we're committed to quality care. Please contact our hospital representative at 337-893-5466 so we can address this properly.
If I could rate zero stars for Abbeville General Hospital in Abbeville, LA, I would! After a car accident, I was about to vomit from what I knew was a concussion. The ER doctor just made me turn my head, gave me one pill, and sent me off with a migraine. Getting an attorney later proved I had a bad concussion! These people didn't care or show kindness - I could tell he thought I was making it up. So unprofessional for emergency care when I needed real help.

Went to Abbeville General Hospital in Abbeville, LA cause my sinuses had me all clogged up. They did a COVID test, then had me sitting in the back waiting room for 2 hours while nurses at the station were just talking. They're getting paid to stand around and chat - that's why there are no rooms available. For emergency care in Vermilion Parish, this wait time was ridiculous when I needed help.
We apologize for your wait time in our Emergency Department in Abbeville. At Abbeville General Hospital in Louisiana, we're working to improve our processes. Please contact 337-898-6423 if you'd like to discuss this further.

My experience at Abbeville General Hospital was awesome. The nurses and staff in Abbeville, LA were so caring and helpful - they responded every time I called and did rounds throughout the night. My daughter had her baby there in Labor and Delivery and they were amazing too. The hospital is super clean with good food. Those nurses had a huge impact on my recovery, and I can't thank them enough for the great care.

Everything about Abbeville General Hospital is good - great doctors and nurses took care of my wife in Abbeville, LA. The night nurse made sure she was quiet when coming in so we slept better than at any other hospital. Only weird thing: they block Netflix and streaming sites on their wifi, so we couldn't watch anything except boring cable TV. If they'd let patients watch Netflix, I'd give 5 stars for hospital care here.
Thanks for your feedback about your wife's care at our hospital in Abbeville. We're glad our nurses helped you sleep better. At Abbeville General Hospital in Louisiana, we'll look into the wifi concerns while maintaining quality hospital services.
3rd floor nurses/cna’s are the most compassionate and caring. My Mom received excellent care! Dr Pham, Faul and Fontenot gave her great care and attention!
Carol, thank you so much for your kind words!
My daughter had dental work at Abbeville General Hospital today and everyone was amazing! Everyone in Abbeville, LA made time to talk to my 4-year-old - they made her feel welcomed and at ease. After the third nurse was so nice and caring, even I relaxed. Nothing felt off, just a wonderful experience for outpatient surgery. Stickers for days and a superhero mask she won't take off! 10/10 would recommend for pediatric care.

My experience with Abbeville General was honestly one of the worst I’ve had in healthcare. The way the staff treated me was disturbing, and I just can’t shake how unprofessional it was. At the very least, I expected basic respect, but that was far from what I got.
On June 30th, a negligent driver crashed into me, and I was taken to Abbeville General by ambulance. They refused to give me an MRI, saying I wasn’t showing enough symptoms at the time. (For context, I’m now receiving treatment and physical therapy after proper imaging was done elsewhere.) While I tried to be understanding at the time, what happened next made it clear there were serious issues. A nurse told me to follow up for imaging with my primary care doctor at the Maurice Community Clinic, which I didn’t even realize was connected to Abbeville General.
I mentioned how difficult it was to get in touch with the Maurice Community Clinic and expressed concern that I might never get that MRI because of how unresponsive they are. I wasn't angry, mind you, just disappointed that this was going to be a long process now to get treatment and knowledge of my injuries. And that’s when things got weird. The nurse seemed to take it personally, as if I had insulted her directly. While I was still on a stretcher, in a neck brace, she started berating me in front of my family about missed appointments at Maurice Clinic. She even suggested to me that my neck pain might have something to those missed appointments, not the car accident I had just been in. Really?
I tried to defend myself by showing her proof of all the times I had tried to reschedule and called Maurice Clinic with no response and showing her all of my unanswered portal messages, but looking back, I realize I shouldn’t have had to do that. It was completely inappropriate for her to attack me like that. I was just sharing my frustrations about a completely separate issue, and she went off on me. I have three witnesses who saw this, and it was truly unprofessional.
On top of that, the connected Maurice Community Clinic never mentioned the physical therapy referrals they supposedly "informed me" about. Even when I kept going back to them for the same issues, they never brought PT up again or told me I had been approved, which meant I missed out on physical therapy that could have helped me recover from the previous accident, also caused by a negligent driver. It’s clear that both facilities—since they’re connected—have serious issues with communication and professionalism.
This isn’t just a one-time thing either; it seems like a systemic problem with both Abbeville General and Maurice Community Clinic. I’ve had multiple problems with communication—phone calls and portal messages going unanswered, misleading information about referrals, and even an instance of retaliatory behavior after I answered a survey honestly. After I submitted answers to a survey sent to me about Abbeville General about my experience, I received a dismissal letter dated the very same day, essentially kicking me out of all connected facilities. How petty and unprofessional is that? Though I’m not suggesting it was intentional, it’s hard to overlook how my access to care remained open until just one day before my final scheduled routine appointment at Maurice Community Clinic. Thank goodness I had a new Dr. lined up closer to my location.
This kind of behavior is not what anyone should expect from a healthcare provider. Their refusal to take responsibility for anything and the way they retaliated when I tried to address my concerns shows a major problem with how they treat their patients. I’m not asking for disciplinary action, but I hope LDH takes a close look at this situation to make sure other patients don’t go through the same thing.
I don’t expect any follow-up from the complaint officer because it’s clear this issue runs deeper than just one bad experience. I’ve documented everything and sent it to the proper agencies. If you’re looking for professional, compassionate care, I would highly recommend considering other options.
If I could give this place a negative 5 stars, I would. This past weekend I fell at work and went in to the ER in so much pain and unable to walk. I knew my tailbone was broken and the staff at the hospital all treated me as if i were being dramatic or just there to try and get pain meds. They treated me so terrible, kept tossing me around like a rag doll and threatened to shove a catheter inside of me when I was unable to pee for them. After waiting for hours they finally put me through a CAT scan and sure enough, I have a broken tailbone exactly like i told them I did. They still treated me like trash even after getting back my scans. I will never go back to this hospital ever again and I wouldnt advise anyone else go there either.

I went in because my ear was hurting beyond I could handle. I went at about 9pm got in at triage. I barely could've walk because I had an ear infection that I didn't know I had. I left at 2am because they had me sitting in a chair and I hadn't seen a doctor or nurse the whole time. So I left and had to go to urgent care. The next day because I was nauseous and my head was pounding. I feel they were quick to take my information to charge me but never treated my illness.

My fiancé was brought in by ambulance and was in a neck brace after being hit by a car. She was denied an MRI, likely because it wasn’t deemed warranted at that time. However, symptoms from spinal injuries can sometimes become fully apparent 24 to 48 hours later. She is now in physical therapy.
She was advised to obtain an MRI through her PCP at Maurice Clinic (MCC). Due to difficulties reaching MCC, she expressed concern about the chances of getting the MRI done. The ER nurse criticized her and disclosed details about missed appointments to her family, which was both inappropriate and seems like a HIPAA violation. Abbeville General’s facilities are often unreachable, which leads to an inability to reschedule and wastes everyone's time. After reporting this issue on the Abbeville General survey, she was dismissed from all interconnected facilities. This sequence of events is troubling, especially as we were unaware that all these facilities are interconnected.
The only competent care we found was at the women’s clinic. This experience displays significant issues with Abbeville General’s service and operational practices. It has also led us to find a doctor closer to home with better treatment, which we appreciate, as we had been dealing with these problems for too long without realizing they were systemic issues related to Abbeville General.

I went to ER by ambulance on 7/17/22 with being positive with covid & this hospital is a joke. The ambulance suggested going there since there would not be as bad as wait as at Our Lady of Lourdes. Well I would have rather wait at Our Lady of Lourdes than get in quick, run the same exact test at Our Lady Of Lourdes did on Saturday when I was rushed to er. My BP was running super low around 80/50 when ambulance picked me up & resting heart rate at 41. Got to hospital machine kept going off & they didn't even give me any fluids. The nurse I had which I won't call out on here was not friendly, never smiled & was very eager to run out room every time she came in. She never smiled & didn't seem like she wanted to help or listen to me. My pcp told me that is horrible they didn't atleast give me fluids. I'm very unhappy with their services. You think after all these years the hospital would be doing better. Dr was good very polite & listened. But only thing is more could of been looked at & checked. Now I'm home not wanting to go back to er & my BP still very low & heart rate in 40's.
We are very sorry, Stacey, that you had less than a pleasurable experience at Abbeville General. Someone will be in contact with you soon to discuss your concerns about the care you received.
Disgusting staff. This hospital needs to be shut down. I was brought to this hospital on one of the worst days of my life and the way these nurses and one particular doctor treated me and spoke to me is something I will never forget. May you face the same coldness when you reach for help one day. I hope you suffer and are shamed and verbally abused in the ways you have done to me. And to the Jamaican nurse… the one who cleaned me and covered me with that sheet while I was on the floor. I don’t know who you are. But you’re much too good for this place. Thank you.

Went to Abbeville General March 5th at 5:00 am to do labs, they did my labs everything went fine very nice and courteous staff. I called my Dr 3-13 to see if AGH sent my labs in no call back. On 3-14 I stopped by the lab to see what’s going on they advised “we’ll send your labs in” so apparently 8 days passed and they NEVER sent my labs in!!! I did my labs at 5 in the morning I understand things can get hectic but at best they should have been sent in the next day (3-6) no instead Wednesday,Thursday,Friday, Monday Tuesday,Wednesday pass and nothing they hadn’t bothered to send my labs in all the while I’m wondering why my PCP hasn’t called me to discuss my bloodwork, oh yeah it’s because The techs at Abbeville General were to busy for 8 days to send my labs in!!!!convenient or not I’ll be doing my labs in Lafayette moving forward!!! GOOD DAY SIR!!!!

I stayed on the 4th floor for a few days a couple months ago. Most of the nurses were great and my doctor was awesome.
However, there was this one nurse that ignored me 3 times when I called the desk. 2 times I had vomited and was very dizzy. One time, I got so dizzy that I was losing my balance and almost passing out. Both of the times I saw her (she only came in because my IV machine was beeping) she had some black Bluetooth earbuds in and being rude like I interrupted her. Another time I asked for my locker to be opened, and she had to get the keys, but she never came back. I don't think she was busy because of how rude she was to me, but I guess I could be wrong.
The next morning when the CNA took my blood pressure, I was in hypertensive crisis, it was like 180/120, which is why I had been so dizzy. I could have ended up having a stroke or heart attack and no one would've known because this rude nurse ignored me (I called for her twice when this happened. If you guys don't want a lawsuit on your hands, I suggest letting her find employment elsewhere.
Also, the food there is not fit for human consumption. Please, please, PLEASE change the menu or chef or whatever is responsible for the slop coming out of the cafeteria.
