My dentist referred me here for TMJ treatment, and I'm so glad they did. The staff was friendly and helpful, and Dr. Nusayr is great. I've been looking for years for help with my jaw locking. South Sound Oral Medicine was able to quickly identify a good treatment strategy and provide an appliance to help my jaw relax and stop locking.
My names Ethan,I started coming here after a dental cleaning/drilling filling on the left side of my face that caused me everyday chronic pain in my left cheek.i have been seeing Dr.nusayr for the past 7 months,he has stated I've been clenching and grinding my jaw at night causing this pain.the previous dentist did not give me a proper bite and my bite is uneven causinge to clench and grind at night. Dr.nusayr created me an bottom splint and adjusted it every 5-6weeks and prescribed me baclofen to helpe muscles relax at night when I sleep.my condition has somewhat improved but I was still suffering most days out of the week,I talked with the DR and paid for the Botox injections which he said would bring me temporary relief, the Botox has done nothing to help me imo. I talked to the DR about getting the opposing splint for the top,I'll have to sleep with a top and bottom splint for the pain and have that adjusted. I'm really upset the Botox didn't do anything noticable for me or reduce the pain as I am having pain flare ups every other day sense the injections.im still suffering with facial and jaw pain in front of my ear and it's going on a year and one month,I'm really appreciative of dr nusayr trying to help me and come up with options for me and being very informative and listening to me voice my concerns. I really hope to get better one day. Thank you and your team for helping me improve my chronic pain even if it's just a little.Thank you again dr nusayr for working with me to find a solution.
Went in to get treatment for TMJ that has made every dentist and medical professional I've envountered go "Oh god, That's really severe..."
They did not ask me several pertinant questions, and immediatly concluded that I grind my teeth at night. My pain is the least right after I wake up, and though some of my teeth are a little smooth, that is because I've had a lot of dental work done. They did not have or ask about my dental history and the doctor I saw just snarkily said "oh I can just tell" when explaining his teeth grinding idea.
Also once he had the idea of what it was he stopped taking any other patient input and proceeded to talk down to me the entire appointment. When explaining options he said that there were a few options, including one that could get rid of all the pain right away/stop further damage (botox injections). But then tried to convince me that this well backed medical procedure is "bad chemical poison", took scans for a nighttime retainer and told me to relax and eat soft food.
Also tried to get me to do the insurance submission paperwork stuff that's their job to do. (even said as much)
Thank you for sharing your feedback. Due to HIPAA and patient privacy regulations, we cannot confirm or discuss whether any individual is a patient at our clinic, nor can we address specific medical details online.
Speaking generally regarding our practice's approach to TMJ and orofacial pain: because these are complex conditions, our standard protocol involves a comprehensive exam to look for physical signs of muscle tension and bruxism (grinding). When recommending treatment, our clinical philosophy is to prioritize conservative, long-lasting, and cost-effective solutions—such as stabilization splints—that address the root cause of muscle strain. While some temporary injectable therapies exist, we generally advise against them as a first-line treatment due to their temporary nature and high out-of-pocket costs for patients.
Additionally, as a small specialty clinic, our administrative policy is to ask prospective patients to assist in verifying their insurance benefits prior to treatment, ensuring total transparency regarding out-of-pocket costs. We strive to provide compassionate, expert care and encourage anyone with concerns about our standard practices to contact our office directly.
Absolutely the worst experience I've ever had. My dentist sent me here for a sore on my gum. The doctor did weird tests and said it looked highly suspicious, hinting it could be cancer. I was terrified and cancelled the biopsy. Three years later, a new dentist took an X-ray and found it was just a cracked root. I got an implant and was fine. The fear and anxiety they caused was unnecessary.
We're sorry to hear about your experience. At South Sound Oral Medicine in Federal Way, we take all concerns seriously and follow standard protocols for oral mucosal disease evaluation. We'll review our communication processes to ensure patients feel supported. Thank you for your feedback.

D. Nusayr build me a mouth splin and it works perfect. My first visit was towards the end of July and within one month my pain is 95% gone and I feel much better. I highly recommend this place for oral medicine. Thank you everyone at this office.
SSOM is an incredible clinic. It’s easy to speak with a real human when you call, and their staff are kind and helpful - especially with insurance challenges. Dr. Zankar has deep expertise in oral medicine, along with a very warm and caring presence and a focus on quality of life. She’s one of my favorite healthcare professionals. I couldn’t recommend this team more highly!
Came in crying for my follow-up to get my splint after a terrible night of clenching. During the fitting, each adjustment made the pain worse. They saw I was in agony, switched gears, and gave me trigger point injections. Instant relief! The staff treated me seriously and made an unbearable situation tolerable. Update: Weeks later, the injections and night splint have helped so much. Can't thank them enough.
Thanks for trusting us with your care. We're glad our team at South Sound Oral Medicine in Federal Way could pivot and provide trigger point injections for your TMD pain. We're here to support you on your journey to relief.
I highly recommend Dr. Nusayr. I had already seen 2 other dentists before I was referred to P.S. Oral Medicine. I was able to get in immediately. He diagnosed my problem, explained it to me and prescribed medications. My problem is much improved and under control. What a relief.

Honestly, I have no idea why Dr. Eyad Nusayr's office has such bad Google reviews. I've had many appointments with him over the past year or so, and he's been nothing but accommodating, patient, and knowledgeable.
He tries his best to provide the best treatment he can, despite the anomaly of outside influences causing TMJ issues. He understands how difficult it is for insurance to cover certain treatments and does his best to find the most affordable options for the patient.
Dr. Nusayr is also the type of doctor who will explore various treatment options to identify what works best for each patient. He has a great personality and can build a positive rapport with his patients.
I've never had a bad experience with Dr. Nusayr, and he has significantly decreased my TMJ pain, and I'm quite thankful for him.
I was referred to SSOM by a dentist in Federal Way. Dr Nusayr was thorough, listened to my questions, educated me and gave a clear health management plan. His staff was friendly, fun and helpful. They processed my insurance and I have paid nothing but the standard co-pay. I have thanked the referring dentist more than once and told them it was refreshing to feel appreciated as a patient rather than a number. Great job!
Dr. Nusayr was exceptionally thorough in assessing my medical history and spent time making certain I understood next steps. It was awesome to visit a doctor that cares about his patients and makes their health concerns his top priority!
The staff at the clinic is welcoming and helpful.
