My first visit to Amherst Family Dentistry was actually an emergency. Being new to the area, I wasn't happy with my previous dentist's front office so I started looking around. This was my third call, and Nicki was super helpful on the phone. I gave her all my insurance info, and she said they were a bit understaffed that day but promised to call back before end of day—and she did. Dr. Booth and his assistant Sarah made it one of the best dental visits I've ever had. Seriously, if you need emergency dental services in Amherst, OH, this is the place.

8 weeks ago- I came in to this practice looking for a new dentist/ my former one kept making mistakes on fillings. I read some good reviews so I had hope.
I explained to the Dentist that I'm widowed and can't afford high prices; and that I've had cancer and head & neck radiation treatments. I asked Dr. Booth if he could handle my teeth complications. He stated "Yes". So I set up my first appt. I come in and immediately am asked to pay my portion of that day's dental billing up front prior to treatment. I get to the back and in the dental chair. The dentist assesses my teeth and cracks a stupid joke about being able to save me some $$ on my teeth by just having an oral surgeon knock them all out and get dentures put in instead. I didn't see the humor in that. My teeth needed root canals (3 of them)- but he "jobbed me out" to an expensive Endodontist out in Westlake. I expected that he would be doing the root canals- since his practice states that he performs root canals. In my case, that didn't happen. Out of pocket, I paid $1067 for each tooth. I go back 4 weeks ago-- to have my first appointment for a crown on my font tooth. Again, I'm made to pay up front $500 out of pocket before I'm brought back to the chair. After that appointment-- I make the 2nd appointment to come in and have the crown put in my mouth. On the day of That appointment-- I come in and the Receptionist Chelsea looks at me-- says "Hi Tammy.. Uh, you didn't get my text message? I look at my phone and as we are speaking-- the text comes in... I say, oh this message? She says"It looks like your insurance company only paid this much -- 2"2 weeks ago"... You still have to pay $97. I got upset and questioned why I wasn't informed of this "2 weeks ago"? The only thing that was said was 'Well, would you like to reschedule?" The dentist would Not cement my Crown in-- that day-- because I didn't have Another $97 hanging off my lip to pay him that day. I would have had that $$ if someone would have notified me 2 weeks prior. I was Not even offered a payment plan. I should have been able to have my tooth cemented in on that appointment date and I could have come in at the end of that week to pay the $97. Anyhow, I rescheduled. So, today-- I came in for my Crown cementing and am informed by Chelsea, the snotty receptionist-- that I owe $98.80 today. I said " What? You told me 10 days back that I owed $97. Now, you're telling me I owe $98.80? I paid It and got my Crown cemented in. It seems that if you don't have the $$ right upfront-- that they don't give a flying fig about helping you. I am parting ways with this practice. There is something fishy going on with the prices and the lack of empathy for the patient. And, that receptionist needs to fired.

Dental insurance is tricky, and I was really anxious about the cost with my new plan. But Chelsee calmed all my fears! She took my info over the phone and explained my coverage. When I asked about extra services I knew I'd need, she gave me an estimate so I was totally prepared. Dr. Booth was awesome too—he even explained why some things might be better to wait on. What dentist talks you out of unnecessary work? I was floored. Great experience for a new patient exam in Amherst, OH.

Shady. They tell me I have like 5 cavities then I go to get the last 3 done and she says I only have 2 as she is looking at the screen and I have a paper that is showing each one. They do those even tho I never had pain on any of them. Then the top left one has pain ever since and afterwards for over 6 months. I go back in he says I need a root canal and leaves the office without even letting me ask questions then I'm at the desk to pay 99$ for the appointment with the root canal paper of 2400$ in front of me..pretty sure him and his wife are just trying to flow as much money in as possible as shady as possible to retire as soon as possible. Also the entire time he works he's talking about un work related things when you should be focusing on the job instead of over drilling peoples teeth.

No one likes to have a root canal, but Dr. Booth and his dental assistant, Megan, were amazing! They were a great team and when I thought they were only half way through the root canal, they were actually finished! I highly recommend Amherst Family Dentistry!

I had a root canal and it was a quick, painless procedure. Dr. Booth was personable and professional. Put me at ease since I was nervous. Staff is friendly and professional as well. Highly recommend. And cleanings are a breeze too!

Great office! Allison cleaned my teeth and was excellent—thorough and even squeezed me in early. I usually dread the dentist because it can be painful, but she made it a breeze with no pain.
