I usually don't leave negative reviews, but my experience this summer was so bad I'm still thinking about it 7 months later. I'd been a patient at Arch City Dental in Grandview for 4 years with no issues. Went in for a regular cleaning and left in tears. The hygienist did periodontal probing and found gingivitis in one spot—never mentioned before. I asked questions but felt dismissed and rushed. Really upsetting.
Owner Response
We're truly sorry for the distress you experienced during your visit. No patient should feel dismissed or rushed. At Arch City Dental in Grandview Heights, we're committed to compassionate care and clear communication. We'll review our approach to discussing gum health to ensure it's supportive. We hope you'll give us another chance.

Not one to leave negative reviews usually, but I feel I need to share. I've been coming here since Dr. Andrew Baloy was the dentist, and the staff was caring and professional. Cleanings were thorough and I always left happy. In the last year or two, it seems management changed. Now cleanings feel rushed and less thorough. Really miss the old standard of care.
Owner Response
Thank you for your honest feedback and for being a long-time patient. We're sorry your recent visits haven't matched the care you received before. At Arch City Dental in Grandview Heights, we're committed to improving and ensuring every cleaning and checkup meets your expectations. We'd love the chance to make it right.

I wanted to like this office but unfortunately everything from the cleaning to the billing was a terrible experience. I had my first appointment here in November. I provided my dental insurance no less than 3 times to the staff, my cleaning was unlike any I've had before in that I didn't feel like anything was really done, the dentist was not very kind, and I keep receiving emails and text messages that I owe nearly $500 for a basic cleaning and x rays. When I called they asked me if I had insurance, which I replied that I had provided it multiple times, and then just told me it would be submitted to insurance. It's been 2 months and it still has not been submitted to insurance and I cannot get them on the phone. Looking at the other recent reviews, this seems to be a major problem. I won't be returning.

DON'T GO HERE unless you like being treated poorly. Rude staff, not good with college students. My daughter went in with a toothache and waited 45 minutes because the receptionist said she didn't get the online paperwork, even though my daughter showed the submission email. Then they said her insurance was wrong—she had her medical card from Anthem. She called and got the correct info quickly, but it was a mess.
Owner Response
Chandra, we're sorry about your daughter's frustrating visit. We strive to treat every patient with respect, and we clearly fell short. At Arch City Dental in Grandview Heights, we're reviewing our check-in process to make it smoother. We hope you'll give us another chance to provide the care you deserve.

Been a patient here for years, and it used to be great. Lately, there's been a big drop in quality, like other reviewers said. Staff seems to have changed completely—hygienists and dentists are still good, but the office staff has major communication issues. In December, they kept calling to reschedule my appointment, then said it didn't need to be rescheduled. Couldn't get through to anyone.
Owner Response
Stephanie, we appreciate your loyalty and your honest feedback. Communication issues are not acceptable, and we're sorry for the confusion. Arch City Dental in Grandview Heights is working hard to improve our scheduling and patient communication. We value your trust and hope to show you a better experience next time.

Went there several times over the summer for dental work. Signed a document at every appointment going over the agreed upon amount owed. Then at a cleaning visit in November (3 months after the several rounds of dental work) at check out, they told me I owed them >$2,500 from bills starting back in June. This was the first time this was communicated to me in any way. They told me at the office that it wasn’t but they appeared to be equally shocked by the figure. I paid it then went home and verified it was the first time by checking all of my mail and emails, phone call/text history and previously printed receipts from each visit. This was a huge and unexpected hit to my finances that their business provided no documentation of. They ruined any form of trust & I will not continue my business here.
Owner Response
Haley, we’re very sorry to hear about your experience and understand how concerning unexpected billing information can be. Our office strives to provide clear estimates and timely communication regarding any insurance changes or balance adjustments. Insurance processing and claim updates can sometimes result in account changes after services are completed, but we recognize how important transparency is — especially when it comes to financial matters. Due to privacy regulations, we cannot review specific account details publicly. However, we strongly encourage you to contact our office and ask to speak with our billing manager so we can carefully review your account and ensure everything has been handled correctly. We appreciate your feedback and the opportunity to address your concerns.

This office has serious billing and communication issues. I have repeatedly signed paperwork before my appointments confirming that I owed $0, yet I later received a bill for $72. After multiple calls, voicemails, and emails, I was eventually sent a written apology stating the charge was a mistake and that I did NOT owe the balance. Then, weeks later, I was told again that I owe the same $72 — even though the charge is dated on a day I was not even at the office. My account still shows this balance, and no one returns calls or emails. I am simply asking for a manager to contact me and resolve an error they already admitted to. The dentist and hygienist were great, but whoever handles billing and communication is completely dropping the ball. I would not recommend this office due to how poorly this situation has been handled.
Owner Response
Corinna, we’re very sorry to hear about your frustration regarding billing and follow-up communication. We understand how confusing and upsetting it can be to receive conflicting information about an account balance. Our goal is always to ensure statements are accurate and clearly communicated. If there has been any inconsistency, we absolutely want the opportunity to review it thoroughly and resolve it. Due to privacy regulations, we cannot discuss account details publicly, but we encourage you to contact our office and ask to speak directly with our billing manager so this matter can be addressed promptly. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and value your feedback.

Had a cleaning scheduled this afternoon in Grandview Heights. Got there 10 minutes early, but the doors were locked. No one at the front desk, and nobody answered when I called. I get that there's a winter storm, but I received two texts and an email confirming the appointment with no notice of closure. Nothing on their website or voicemail either. Felt really frustrating and disrespectful of my time and safety.
Owner Response
Anna, we're sorry for the frustration. We understand how important clear communication is, especially during severe weather. Arch City Dental in Grandview Heights is reviewing our notification process to ensure patients are informed promptly about any closures. We appreciate your feedback and hope to restore your trust.

I've been going to Arch City Dental for a few years. The original owner ran it efficiently, and I always had great experiences. Since ownership changed, quality has declined. Every visit now takes about 1.5 hours, whereas before I was in and out in 30-45 minutes. The hygienist was so aggressive during a cleaning that he broke my permanent retainer. I scheduled a separate appointment to fix it, but it's been frustrating.
Owner Response
Rachel, we're sorry your recent visits haven't lived up to what you experienced before. We take your concerns about the cleaning and wait times seriously. I usually don’t write reviews but I feel my experience at this practice should be known so others are aware. My teeth were perfectly fine when I went in for my annual visit and they noted small cavities on Xray and recommended fixing them. I was being followed by one of their previous dentist who had trouble fixing my cavity and had to redo the filling twice in one session where I had to stay for almost 2 hours for it to be done. After that I have been having non stop pain on that side, I returned twice to that dentist for it to be fixed and every time they just did a “bite adjustment” without even doing new imaging and contributed the pain to filling needing adjusted. It got the point I had pain with even drinking water and touching that side so had to eat and drink on one side for over a month. The last appointment I had was with another dentist who again only did a bite adjustment and did not looked further into it. It’s been over 2 months and I still have pain on that side, still can’t eat or chew there and have severe pain when I try. Now I have to go to a different practice and pay extra money for them to fix what was done here. I do not recommend this place for other than routine dental hygiene and yearly care.
Owner Response
Farrah, we’re sorry to hear about the discomfort you experienced following your recent treatment. Patient comfort and high-quality care are top priorities for our team. We are unable to discuss treatment specifics publicly due to privacy regulations, but we would appreciate the opportunity to speak with you directly to review your experience and address any concerns. Don't let these people touch your teeth. Don't just walk away run away from this office. I was having a toothache and found this office, made an appointment and was told I needed crowns. The crown was placed and I was having severe pain after. I came back twice to see them with in a three week period due to tremendous pain 10/10 pain and no matter how many times I told the dentist I did not need my bit adjusted, he continued to adjust my bite and told me it would relieve the pain. It did not relieve the pain. I was hurting more than I’ve ever hurt in my life so I got a second opinion from a different office three weeks later and was told I never needed crowns in the first place, that the cavity was so deep that I should’ve gotten a root canal & also told me there was so much left over concrete and glue from placing the crowns that it was causing severe irrititation to my gums, so I schedule a root canal with that office they got me in the same day and when I woke up the next morning, the pain was completely gone. Arch City Dental put me through a procedure that never needed done in the first place and put me in more pain than when I had first come in with very little advice on what to do. Multiple staff members at the Arch City Dental office here in Grandview told me that I do not want to see the dentist that is there Tuesdays through Thursdays because he’s not a good dentist & during my third appointment there, the dental assistant basically told me that the dentist didn’t know what he was doing, and also told me that he was purposely not telling me things because she saw some things that should not have been done & now I’m down $3000 dollars. And when I called and asked for my patient records I was never sent them and when I called them to let them know that they had messed up they decided to never reach back out to me. Shame on you Arch City Dental.

I've gone here for the past 2.5 years, and previously I've had great experiences. However, today I arrived for the appointment I've had scheduled for 6 months (after confirming via text a week prior) and they told me my appointment somehow got unscheduled and that I'd have to be come back later in the day. So after rearranging my work schedule, when I arrive at the office for the 2nd time in the day, I had to wait 30 minutes before a hygenist even started the cleaning, and he just complained the whole time about he doesn't want to work. He cleans my teeth as quick as he possibly can so he can go take a break, and is super rough and painful in the process, poking me in the gums multiple times with the ultrasonic cleaner, skipping flossing, spent approx 30 seconds polishing, and gobbed on the flouride, leaving me feeling like I didn't get a full cleaning. After the cleaning he just left and didn't say much, so I wasn't sure if I was done or still waiting for somebody. The dentist eventually came in for the exam, and the past 2-3 appointments, seems like there's been lots of dentist turnover because I've seen somebody different each time. I normally have an okay experience here, so I'm not sure if there's been a change of management or I just got unlucky, but today with sending me away from my scheduled appointment and the poor cleaning was possibly the worst dentist experience I've had.

Worst dentist experience, I will not be returning or recommending to anyone. Hygienist was rude and insulted my name and profession while continuing to complain about how fast he wanted to clean my teeth so he could leave. Dentist was claimed to be too busy to see me and I was asked to leave. I never saw the dentist and they said they would just look at my x-rays which I never took since my previous appointment 6 months prior. Also, this was a rescheduled appointment because they cancelled my appointment a week prior because they changed their hours to be closed on Mondays, so I had to rework my schedule and they were still not able to accommodate me. Overall staff was not pleasant and I will never be returning. 0 stars.

Weird to say 'enjoy' about a dentist visit, but I never dread coming here! From the front desk to the hygienists to the dentist, everyone is friendly and makes it easy. I don't like the dentist, but Brock made my appointment fun—he gave great advice in a funny way and we had a good chat even during dental work. One of my best experiences at any doctor's office!
