Had a coronectomy (partial extraction) of an impacted wisdom tooth with Dr. Ray Cheng. The procedure was quick with minimal discomfort performed in office under local anesthesia. Everything has since healed nicely, with 6 month followup. I can attest to Dr. Cheng's clinical and technical acumen. His office was easy to communicate with for appointments and obtaining X-ray copies for my general dentist. I highly recommend a consultation with Dr. Cheng if you are seeking an oral surgeon.

I was on vacation in New York and had progressively severe pain radiating from my lower jaw. I could tell it was a wisdom tooth trying to ruin my life. I did a search for Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons near the area I was staying, who received great reviews, and who could take me the same day. I found Dr. Cheng at Chatham Square who set me an immediate appointment. I was terrified.
As soon as I got to the office, I was somehow relieved by his sweet staff who handled my x-rays and pre-op care. When Dr. Cheng came in the room for my consultation, I knew I was safe and that everything was going to be okay. He walked me through the process, told me exactly what was going to happen, and gave me time to ask questions. The extraction was not painful at all and besides the hygienists assisting him, he had a whole team member in the room just to hold my hand!

I don’t normally leave reviews but my experience with Dr. Cheng and the whole staff was exceptional! The process was efficient and the office is clean and well organized.
All the staff were extremely warm, welcoming, and patient. Dr. Cheng took the time to explain all my options and risks for wisdom teeth removal, and answered any questions I had patiently and clearly without any hint of arrogance or condescension, and did not pressure me to do any procedure. The assistants were very clear up front about what I would pay for the procedure.
I felt extremely cared for and at ease throughout the process and during the procedure. It feels like they are treating you as a person and not just another patient/job. For example, during the anesthesia injection I felt a little pinch and obviously looked like I was in a bit of pain and the assistant patted/squeezed my hand - that small gesture of caring and empathy really helped me feel more comfortable and safe. The procedure itself was absolutely painless, and done in 20 min, and so far it is not giving me any pain with the prescribed painkillers.
They even went the extra mile to call me a few hours after my appointment to see how I was feeling - I’ve never had any dentist or oral surgeon do that before! Safe to say I will be returning here if I ever need any other work done. Strong recommend, I’m telling all my friends about this place.
If you need to have your wisdom teeth take out, Dr Cheng is THE person to do it. He removed all four of my wisdom teeth in one sitting using numbing injections and laughing gas, and I honestly did not experience any pain from the procedure. My recovery was speedy and my mouth healed extremely well; I could not have hoped for a better recovery. I have since recommended Dr Cheng to a friend who needed her wisdom teeth out but was nervous about the procedure, and after going through the surgery she too was very happy with Dr Cheng and the outcome. The whole team at Chatham Square Oral made me feel extremely comfortable and at ease. They excel in professionalism and are an outstandingly competent team; when you are looking to have any medical/dental procedure this is exactly what you are looking for. Before the talk, I had an early conversation with the dentist via email before coming to the consultation. I called the office and was able to see him that weekend for the consultation. I would like to thank the dentist and his staff for helping me go over the procedures from the beginning to the end. It was fast but it was worth the hour. Although they don't accept my insurance and their prices are on the higher side, when you find an oral surgeon I can trust, I would say I feel confident going to him rather than anyone else. Overall, I highly recommend seeing him if you need to see an oral surgeon or have your wisdom teeth removed.
