Tried to schedule a dental appointment for my wife at this Washington, DC dentist, and the lady on the phone told me it was against HIPAA laws. Honestly, I was shocked—I've worked in a pharmacy since 2008 and know I can give my wife's name to set a date. She even insinuated I might harm my wife if I knew her appointment time, referencing some past incident. Just rude and misinformed. Later, I asked about making an appointment for my son since I'd have to provide his info too, and it was the same issue. Really disappointing experience with their scheduling process.

Bad experience with this dentist in Washington, DC. Called for my mom after getting their number from the insurance company as a provider. Explained her situation, and because it's government insurance, the girl basically said they can't help. The insurance company told me all they had to do was submit a request for the work, like oral cancer screening or other treatments, but she was rude and refused. Exactly what's wrong with some doctors—advise going elsewhere.
We're sorry to hear about your experience at Cheryle Baptiste DDS PLLC in Washington, DC. We strive to assist all patients with insurance processes, including for oral cancer screening. Please reach out to us directly so we can review your mom's case and provide the help she needs.
Beware of this place in Washington, DC. The office manager, Tracy, is very unprofessional. They scheduled my mom for dentures and gum disease treatment, but when she showed up, they said they were still waiting on insurance authorization. Asked Tracy when it was sent, and she didn't know—said they have four people leaving and don't check status after submitting. My mom's appointment was made a month prior. Just a mess with their insurance process for dentures.
We apologize for the frustration with your mom's dentures appointment at Cheryle Baptiste DDS PLLC in Washington, DC. Insurance authorizations can take 4-6 weeks as set by providers, and we're working to improve our follow-up procedures. Please contact us directly to resolve this and schedule her treatment.

They abandoned my treatment plan after taking over $10K. The accountant, Silvia, created false invoices to justify stealing a $1,600 credit balance on my account. Service is mediocre, and the office staff (her kids) are rude and unprofessional. Find a different dentist in Washington, DC with real talent and character. Their response below says it all—doesn't address the $1,600 retainer. Detected the scam, so now I'm 'ill-mannered.' Plenty of better dentists out there.
We take such allegations seriously at Cheryle Baptiste DDS PLLC in Washington, DC. Our records show professional care was provided, and we're open to discussing any billing concerns directly. Please contact our office to resolve this matter and ensure accurate handling of your account.
The people here are very kind and friendly. The doctors take the time to explain what's going on with your health, and what steps it will take to fix it. The doctors are also very skilled. I am always comfortable when I go in for cleaning or any dental work.

Used to live in Maryland and went to Dr. Baptiste years ago for dental services. After trying a few dentists in New Jersey, I make the drive to Washington, DC a few times a year for me and my family—it's the best dental care around! Totally worth the trip. My kids always feel comfortable and have no fear thanks to how the staff goes above and beyond to make it enjoyable. Seriously, thank you!

I had a terribly abscessed tooth and not only did Dr. Baptiste relieve my pain and care for the tooth, she did so on her day off. The staff here are welcoming and appear to be one big family. I hate going to the dentist as much as the next person but when I have to go she is the best choice in my opinion.

Recently tried the laser filling—it was incredible! Took just minutes, and I could eat right after with no numbing or pain. Would get another one tomorrow if needed. I have been a patient for 5 years and I finally lost patience with all their nonsense. About 75% of the time that I had an appointment (and I go twice per year), they called me 2 days before to tell me the office was going to be closed and therefore my appointment would be cancelled. I understand if this happens once in a while, but considering that it happens almost every time I make an appointment, I am just fed up with this service. When I told them I am frustrated that my appointment is frequently cancelled and that they should either not schedule appointments on days when they will be closed, or else they need to be more respectful of their patients' schedules and not simply cancel appointments just because they decide 2 days in advance to take the day off, I was rudely interrupted and told "I am not going to argue about this." It's not an argument for a patient to say that she does not appreciate the inconvenience of repeatedly having her appointment cancelled. And yet, the hygienist insisted on interrupting me and raising her voice at me as she told me I could go elsewhere and the issue was not up for discussion. Additionally, Dr. Baptiste is frequently not present when her hygienist is the one performing the exam so when I ask to see the doctor, I am told that will not be possible today. In the 10 visits I have had here as a patient, I have only ever been permitted to speak with the doctor once as she is frequently not on the premises. I believe this may constitute billing fraud as you cannot bill for services performed under the doctor's license if the doctor is not physically on the premises.
We have appreciated your patronage over the years and have valued you as a patient. However, your review is completely inaccurate and defamatory. YOU are the one who has canceled your last two appointments. Please go back and review the text messages you sent to our messaging system asking to cancel and reschedule your appointments. If you no longer have the messages a copy can be provided to you. Further, Dr. Baptiste is ALWAYS present in the office; however, you will not always see her, particularly if you are just coming in for a cleaning and are not due for an exam. Cleanings are done by the dental hygienist and not Dr. Baptiste. Lastly, your claims about our billing practices are untruthful and defamatory. Based on your inaccurate statements I can only assume that you are not familiar with dental billing, so I'm just going to chalk it up to you not knowing any better.
What a phenomenal group of people!! What can I say? Every member of the staff in this little outfit is outstanding. I have been coming here for years and it has been my experience here that every person here has time and again shown herself to be professional, efficient, knowledgeable, thorough, patient, kind, gentle, caring, and above all, an absolute advocate for me and for my health. Together, this group of savvy, sharp women make an utterly kickass team. I will spare you, the reader, of the specifics but will say I have had both regular cleaning, maintenance and general dentistry needs met here with exceptional service, gentleness and focus. I have also had incredibly complex procedures done here, sometimes even long ones, and again, all of those were executed with precision and skill and a warm bedside manner.
Dr. Baptiste has done marathons in my mouth and the quality of her work has astounded many other dental professionals that I have seen. Silvia has gone to extraordinary lengths to get insurance to cover the dental work I desperately needed; submitting and resubmitting forms in an ongoing correspondence with my insurance. I was gobsmacked when I walked in one day to get a single cavity filling post a routine clean and learn that, after years of corresponding with insurance, Silvia had just received the “a-ok” from my insurance to do what had, at this point, added up to 9 crowns. And you know...they did it that same day, right then and there. Now I am not going to lie, getting 9 crowns in one day from anyone else would have terrified me. But I knew I was in the best hands with Dr. Baptiste and her staff. They had the long hard work and work hard they did - oof. As for me, I just lay there and tried my best to relax with my mouth wide open for several hours.
Now I have even had the odd dental emergency in the time that I have been going to this office. I had a front tooth get knocked out one night and hoped that if I showed up at the office that morning, prepared to sit out the day in the waiting room, that maybe they could squeeze me in sometime in the course of the day. They had a full schedule and still they had me in the chair and getting fixed up within 15 minutes of my arrival. And that was the longest I have ever had to wait at Dr. Baptiste’s office. And sure that particular circumstance was an all hands on deck sort of thing but mainly so they could both take care of me as well as continue to care for the patients they had coming in that day.
I am forever grateful to Dr. Baptiste for what she has done has not only saved my teeth from quite literally falling out but the work she has done has surely done a fair bit to keep my heart pumping along in good health too. And frankly, I just like the people at this office. They feel like family. And indeed, several of the people who work here are actually family. So maybe it’s just that they make me feel like I am a part of their family. I never would have thought I would like going to the dentist but actually look forward to it and not in some masochistic way, but just because I like these guys and I trust them and I know they will take care of me. Because they always have done; they have always done right by me. In all honesty, they have been better advocates for my health than even I have been for myself. And last thing I’m going to say, and just because it’s a bummer to see any review that isn’t a 5 stars...in my experience, Dr. Baptiste and the whole staff at her Friendship Dentistry are a solid 5 out of 5 stars - all the way, top to bottom, left to right, covering the easy stuff to the hard, the basic procedures to the complex ones, the little things to the big picture, all of it - this crew deserves five beaming bright stars.
You are a 5 star patient! Thank you for taking the time to leave such a gracious and kind review. We have truly valued your patronage over the years. THANK YOU for trusting us to met your dental needs. We are happy to hear that we have met your expectations and are exceedingly glad to have you as a part of our dental family.
Made an appointment weeks in advance. Day of appointment was a snow day, meaning a two-hour delay for school openings. Got off the Metro at Tenleytown and got a phone call from the dental office. The rude receptionist/office assistant/whoever did not identify herself said I was more than 15 minutes late and would need to reschedule. I explained that it's a snow day. Receptionist/office assistant/whoever said they don't adhere to snow days and that I would need to reschedule.....NOT! Thanks, but NO Thanks.... Cheryle is not the only dentist in town.....will go see Marva. Should not have wasted my time.....Will not this dentist to family, friends or co-workers!
I'm sorry that this happened to you and I'm deeply troubled that you felt that the receptionist was rude. It's even more troubling that you would give 1 star to an office you've never been to. Also, we don't follow school delays or closings (I don't know any office that does). Additionally, in order to accommodate everyone's appointments in a timely fashion we do only allow a 15 min grace period for lateness; after 15 mins patients are asked to reschedule. It is unfair to our other patients that show up on time if they have to wait because we allowed the previous person to come late. In fact, the snow day that you mentioned all of our other patient's arrived on time for their appointments so once again it would have been unfair to them if we allowed you to come in late. If I recall correctly, you were more than 30 mins past your appointment time.
Was super nervous when I got to their office in Washington, DC—I don't like dentists usually. But Dr. Baptiste has the Midas touch! She understood my fear, talked me through before, during, and after treatment, and used a gentle touch. No anesthetics needed for my procedure. Looking forward to the next one. New patients get goodie bags with dental stuff, and loved the old-fashioned elevator! Great for sedation dentistry if you're anxious like me.
Thank you for sharing your experience at Cheryle Baptiste DDS PLLC in Washington, DC! We're glad we could ease your fears with our sedation dentistry approach. Can't wait to see you for your next treatment!
Dr. Baptiste takes time and care with her patients to ensure properly completed procedures. Silvia at the front desk is a pleasure. They got me in as a new patient for a root canal when no other offices would call me back.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us such a great review. It has been our pleasure having you as one of our patient's. We look forward to seeing and serving you again in the future :-)
