Had a great first visit at Dansville Family Dental Care. The hygienist was super friendly and explained everything as she went along. Dr. Teachout came in after my cleaning and was really thorough, too. She laid out a clear plan for what I need going forward. At checkout, they gave me a detailed breakdown of costs and what my insurance would cover. Honestly, it was the most transparent dental experience I've had in Dansville. I'd definitely send friends and family here for general dentistry or cosmetic work. They're wonderful!

Would not recommend this place if you have insurance they accept. They don't seem to know what your insurance covers. They went ahead with work, and when I asked repeatedly if it was covered, they said yes. Now I'm stuck with a huge bill. They claimed they do what's necessary for the patient, not what insurance covers. But I was never given an estimate. Just got a shocking bill in the mail. Really disappointed.

My hygienist was super kind and thorough. She noticed I was chilly and actually asked if I wanted a blanket—then covered me with a plush towel she found in the back. Made me feel so comfortable and at ease. Also appreciated how she explained all the safety and cleaning measures they take. Everyone at the office was friendly and welcoming. Really made for a good experience in Dansville. Thank you!

Absolutely terrible. Took a half day off work for a tooth fix I waited three weeks for. Was told I had to pay full price because they don't take my insurance anymore. Staff was incredibly rude and not willing to help. Confirmed the insurance thing only after I took time off. Waste of time.

Went in after telling the secretary I had no insurance. She set the appointment anyway. I was in extreme pain with an infection down to my jawbone. Dr. Teachout said it would be $900. I couldn't pay all that day, applied for Care Credit, and was denied. She said she has employees to pay and couldn't help. Later I got a letter from Care Credit—the office had entered my address wrong, causing the denial. Also, the treatment was just an extraction, which seemed overpriced.

Not good. Been overbilled twice for services insurance covered. When I brought it up, they said it would work out in the paperwork months later. Treatments always seem just outside what insurance covers. Switched to a practice where patients matter more than money.

Had a lot of work done here and was in pain initially, but it all turned out good. Everyone was nice and did their jobs well. Saw a bad review about loud kids—when I was there, it was quiet. The rooms are semi-open like most dentists, so I get why someone might be annoyed, but family dentistry isn't a park. I like kids but wouldn't want a bunch of them being loud in a tiny waiting room. Just saying.

They were really disrespectful and rude. I have 5 kids ranging from 1 to 9 and my children do not watch TV, so they played with the toys there. My son who is autistic, made loud truck and car sounds and we ended being kicked out because he was making car and truck noises. I told the receptionist that my son is autistic and he makes noises because he cannot talk or communicate. This is his way of communicating. She said she didn't care and that he was being too loud. They were not fighting or wrestling or screaming, they were just acting like trucks and cars. If you have a child(ren) that are similar to mine, a special needs child or more then one child please expect to be kicked out. Why call yourselves a Family Dental if you cannot handle noise from a child for about 15 minutes on and off? Stay away. I was there 15 minutes early and gave them my paper work and they could not get my dental information or insurance company on the phone because it was Delta Dental of California. Before they make an appointment or schedule you, they should have all their ducks in a row and know what they are doing. I was waiting for a half an hour before my family was kicked out. If we were seen at the time they scheduled us, my children would have been fine. I would not even rate this a one star.
