These dentists in New York are seriously kind and professional! You can really tell they care about their patients, and it shows in their work and how they run their practice. Honestly, it's refreshing to find dental care in NYC where you actually feel looked after.

I've called this New York dental office three times now, and every time the front desk staff have been consistently rude with a harsh tone. They're completely unhelpful and speak very impolitely. Honestly, I wouldn't recommend calling this place if you're looking for emergency dentistry or any dental services in NYC.
We're truly sorry to hear about your repeated negative experiences with our front desk staff in New York. This is unacceptable, and we're addressing this immediately with our team. Please contact our office manager directly so we can make this right. Thank you for your feedback at Downtown Dental NYC.
Honestly, I was pretty shocked by my experience trying to schedule an appointment at this NYC dental office. I called to confirm my appointment details since I was in a rush last time and work weekdays, so I asked if they could text instead of call. Before I could even finish explaining, the person just said no and hung up on me mid-sentence. The call was barely a minute long. I've never had any medical practice in New York do that before. I gave 2 stars instead of 1 because there was apparently a nice front desk person, but I didn't get to interact with them.
We're sorry to hear about your experience with our scheduling process in New York. We take all feedback seriously and will address this with our team to ensure better communication, especially for patients needing appointment confirmations. Thank you for bringing this to our attention at Downtown Dental NYC.
Had a pretty frustrating experience trying to schedule an appointment at this NYC clinic. The person handling scheduling was really rude and impatient with me. Since I'm balancing college and work in New York, finding time can be tricky, and when I asked about availability, it took maybe 3 minutes to check my schedule. When I asked again just to make sure, the staff member raised her voice and seemed annoyed, which made me feel rushed. She even questioned why I was asking about certain days. That kind of attitude just doesn't work in a healthcare setting.
We apologize for your frustrating experience with our scheduling team in New York. This isn't the standard we aim for at Downtown Dental NYC. We'll review our appointment booking process and provide additional training to ensure all patients feel respected when scheduling emergency dentistry or routine visits.
Dr Wong is amazing! The entire office is efficient, knows what they are doing. My mouth is like a garage sale and dr Wong has improved upon it with ease , knowledge and expertise! Highly recommend
I would give this place negative stars if I could. Went here for a root canal in New York about 2 years ago, and the procedure took way longer than expected. The dentist kept complaining about how long my root was and how hard it was to get out. Afterward, I still had pain for weeks, and when I went back a month later, they just brushed me off saying it was fine. The tooth never felt right, and now 2 years later I'm dealing with intense pain in the same tooth. Obviously going to a new dentist in NYC.
We're deeply sorry to hear about your ongoing discomfort following your root canal procedure in New York. This is concerning, and we'd like to investigate this further. Please contact our office manager so we can review your records and address this properly. Thank you for bringing this to our attention at Downtown Dental NYC.
After reading all the negative reviews about this NYC dental practice, I have to say it's not as bad as people make it seem. I saw staff wiping down equipment after use, so cleanliness seems decent at least. I did have one rude experience with the front desk, but other times were pleasant. Dr. Kim did my teeth cleaning and fillings - he explained everything step by step and was super considerate. Also had a tooth pulled by an older doctor, and that was a really quick experience!
Thank you for your balanced feedback about our dental services in New York! We're glad Dr. Kim provided clear explanations during your teeth cleaning and fillings. We're continuously working to improve all aspects of patient care at Downtown Dental NYC.
What a lovely dental office here in New York! The waiting room has such nice views, and both the staff and dentist were really kind. The whole environment felt calming, which honestly makes a big difference when you're at the dentist. Definitely a pleasant experience for cosmetic dentistry in NYC.
Thanks for noticing our calming environment and kind staff! We're glad you enjoyed your visit for cosmetic dentistry in New York. Hope to see you again soon at Downtown Dental NYC.
Mimi Lai is fantastic! The staff at this NYC dental office are not only cool and patient but also extremely professional. If you're in the neighborhood looking for dental implants or other services, this is definitely the place to go in New York!
Thank you for your kind words about Mimi and our team! We're proud to provide professional dental implant services in New York. Looking forward to your next visit to Downtown Dental NYC.
The dental work here in New York is acceptable, but good luck getting an appointment anytime soon. Even for emergency dentistry situations, you won't be able to find availability. It's frustrating when you need dental care in NYC and can't get in.
We understand your frustration with appointment availability for emergency dentistry in New York. We're currently working to expand our scheduling options to better serve our patients. Thank you for your feedback at Downtown Dental NYC.
Dr. Li is an experienced oral surgeon. I had two wisdom teeth extracted by him using local anesthesia. The tooth extraction process was surprisingly quick and painless, and my recovery was smooth. Dr. Li also has a pleasant personality, which helped ease my nervousness during the anesthesia injection. It was a very pleasant experience!
Making an appointment and checking in went fine. The receptionist made things quick and efficient. It was my experience with the dentist himself that was an issue. When I asked him a question, he went on a whole rant about how he has “professional experience” and he studied dental care and I didn’t.
Well that’s great and all, congrats on getting a degree. But he never explained his answer at all. He just basically said to do this because I said so and I have more knowledge than you and all your friends and family.
In my opinion, even if he’s correct, it would be nice to hear the reasoning so that I can make my own judgment and decision because it’s not his teeth nor his life. If my decision ends up causing me to have dental issues, then that is my responsibility and consequences to deal with but at least I made my own decision.
Edit: Upped my review to 3 stars thanks to Dr. Chung. She was very kind and helpful in answering any questions I had regarding my wisdom teeth. I had came in for a cavity refilling as the previous fell out, and she made sure I left feeling comfortable with my new filling.
Dr. Gao at this New York dental practice is absolutely amazing! I have super sensitive teeth that usually make cleanings really difficult, but she was so gentle and patient. She numbed me a little before working on my dental fillings and then cleaned everything so carefully. Honestly, there was no discomfort at all during the whole procedure. Couldn't be happier with the care I received here in NYC!
Thank you for sharing your experience with Dr. Gao's gentle approach to dental fillings in New York! We're so glad you had a comfortable visit. Looking forward to seeing you again at Downtown Dental NYC for your next teeth cleaning.
Dr Beverly Chen is a really good dentist.
I had pain from a back tooth when eating M&Ms.
She was thorough in her examination. By looking at my teeth and x-rays, she pinpointed the problem.
I was scared, but her relaxed voice calmed me down.
I asked if we could skip the shot. She agreed, and she was gentle with the drill.
The fillings she did for me are really good. Dr Mimi Lai stopped in to make sure I was doing alright- she is very nice as well.
Overall, an excellent experience. Highly recommend Dr Chen
And I like their bathroom.
We have been coming to Dr Lai for over 20 years, even after we have moved to NJ. She is personable, caring and she always ensure the hygienist that does the routine cleaning is doing a good job. She is such a sweet and loving person that my kids have never feared of the Dentist office. The facility is beautifully maintained, esp. in Chinatown- hard to find such a nice office vibe and environment. Today is post COVID first dental appointment, feel safe and that’s extremely important!
I don't share the bad experiences others mention. I have been going to this practice for 2.5 years now. Dr. Lai is a warm person, welcoming, meticulous, highly respectful to her patients and an absolute lady. Her practice is designed with outstanding attention to aesthetics and function surrounded by magnificent ample views of the neighborhood skyline that make a visit to the dentist something to look forward to, which is an unusual experience. Patients are treated in an open space divided by plexiglass partitions, a layout which feels great to me, but may not be preferable to others.
This place is well decorated. But the service is pretty bad. I was on time for my appointment, One assistant did an X-ray of my teeth at the beginning. Then they kept me waiting for almost an hour. When Dr Mailin's started to clean my teeth. Her attitude was very cold, she left 2 times while cleaning my teeth and leaving the suction tube on my month without a word when she left. I didn't know what was going on. Also I asked some simple questions about my teeth afterwards. She ignored and did not answer any questions.
I've been going to Mimi Lai for 15+ years (since I was a teenager with braces!) it's a great community dentist office in Chinatown. Sure you'll need to wait a bit since some patients take longer than others but the office space is very pleasant to wait in, nice modern decor.
Overall I love going to the dentist, I get a checkup cleaning every six months and follow their recommendations to brush at least 2x a day and floss. Never have any problems.
I came here twice for teeth cleaning and I love it! The office looks futuristic and clean. I feel comfortable waiting in their lounging area with well-organized magazines. Their receptionist was not the coolest person but the dentist and dental care team make up for it. First time I had a male dentist (Dr Chen) and second time I had Dr Mimi Lai herself. Dr Mimi gave me a dental wellness kit before I leave but Dr Chen didn't. However they both made my teeth looked sparkling clean. I enjoyed the super nice customer service, I wish I can come back sooner (or in less than 6 months)!
This place is incredibly modern--what some may refer to as "State of the Art" looking. It's where technology meets medicine in a most spacious and comfortable setting. Everything is open with glass dividers whereas most other medical offices are separated by rooms. This really makes everything easier for everyone and what I call brilliant implementation.
Dr. Koo has been my dentist for the past 6 years and no one has cleaned my teeth better or shall I say has worked harder at cleaning my teeth than this very understanding and professional individual. But I've had the pleasure to meet Dr. Lai (guessing the lead partner/owner) who was also very nice.
Unfortunately for me, stains grow at an incredibly rapid pace and the formation of it is rather disturbing to see, let me just say just be happy this isn't you. With other dentists sometimes when they remove stains, it appears there's an indentation of the original stain. Not so when Dr. Koo does her 3 step procedure on me. Much to my surprise however, I've never had cavities, gingivitis, anything requiring root canals, braces, removals and a lot of that I owe to dentists like Dr. Koo. And after you're done, 2 nice Colgate toothpaste to bring home.
Overall the nurse assistants are friendly and quick and the receptionist(s) are above average for receptionist in a medical office setting. Teeth cleaning without XRay is $100 but worth it if it's a Dr. Koo. I don't know about the other dentist but I'm confident they're not bad at all.
