Been going to this Staten Island dentist for over 25 years, but honestly won't be back. The front desk staff were just nasty - they tried double-charging me for a visit and blamed my insurance. When I tried to talk, they screamed at me, then banned me and threatened police when I yelled back. It's laughable since there are other dentists on Staten Island. Such a shame because the actual dentist is good at his work, but those front desk girls are costing them business.

Honestly, this is an amazing Staten Island dentist! Whether it's just a routine cleaning or something more involved, the care here is always top quality. The doctors really know their stuff but are also super gentle and thorough. The dental assistants are so attentive too - they explain everything and keep checking you're comfortable. Rosalia the manager is absolutely fantastic. Couldn't be happier with my dental care in Staten Island.

Been going to Family Health Dental in Staten Island for 32 years, but the receptionists and office manager Rosalia are just awful. They kept canceling my cleaning appointments, and when I asked to speak to the dentist, they yelled at me and hung up. Then Rosalia called back yelling, claiming I was rude, and dropped me as a patient. It's a shame because the actual dentists and hygienists are good at their work here in Staten Island.

This Staten Island office and their sister location in Brooklyn are by far the worst. They're nasty and seem to scam insurance. I paid $3,300 out of pocket for laser scaling here, and when Aetna called them about why they charged for laser instead of regular scaling, the bookkeeper Michelle decided I couldn't come back. Now I'm stuck with them as my primary on my insurance and can't change. Just terrible experience with this Staten Island dental practice.

The staff at this Staten Island dental clinic have no courtesy at all. They really need training on how to treat patients properly. They'll put your reputation down to zero. Had a bad experience here in Staten Island and wouldn't recommend them.

Honestly can't say enough good things about this Staten Island dental office. From the moment you walk in, Sabrina and Rose at the front desk are the kindest - they really go above and beyond to make you feel cared for. Dr. Andrew takes time to explain everything and makes sure you're comfortable every step. You can tell he genuinely cares about his patients here in Staten Island.

Wow! Before writing this, I saw others with the same problem at this Staten Island office. The front desk and management are just nasty and rude - no wonder! They're paid to answer questions but refuse to. Was going to make an appointment until I asked about my insurance and was told 'I don't know what to tell you, call your insurance' then hung up on. Office manager Rosalia was equally rude, refusing to apologize. Just terrible service from this Staten Island dental clinic.

Don't even know where to start! I was a patient here in Staten Island - 100% service connected disabled. The dentists are great, but because of my illnesses, I'm losing all my teeth. Called about getting dentures made since acid ate away my teeth under caps, but they said I had no coverage even though my daughter has the same insurance. Was told politely I couldn't get the denture treatment I needed. Just frustrating dealing with this Staten Island dental office.

Dr Hechtman is amazing. Such a nice friendly dentist. He treats everyone like their his only patient. He also is amazing to his staff.The staff was very nice and helpful. I changed my whole family to him. I would definitely recommend.

At 25 years old needing lots of dental work, this Staten Island place has been the best. The front desk and office manager Rosalia have been a breeze to work with. All those negative reviews seem to be from people upset about paying out of pocket, but honestly, insurance is tricky everywhere. Would recommend to anyone - brought my parents here and they loved it too. Great experience with this Staten Island dental practice.

If you are looking for a good Dentist in Staten Island Don't waste your time by going here . Keep searching for a real place of business . Family Health Dental Is Horrible ,their billing Department has no clue how to process claims , I got billed for services that were not even done and they billed the insurance company and were denied ,so now they want me to pay . I should of known that I was going to be scammed when the first thing on the paperwork they make you fill out is your social security # . When I declined to give it up front they said we can not have you as a patient if you do not provide it .Well first off besides that it was a horrible experience the girl that gave me the cleaning soaked the hell out of me ,it was like a ride @ wet and wild ,she had no experience and the staff kept checking up on here like I must of been here first patient since she was trained by the staff yesterday . The only thing good about this place was the Dentist seemed pretty knowledgeable . The old nasty dried up person who does billing needs to be educated on how to talk to people on the phone when they call with billing questions

Stay away from this place. Nothing but issues with the dental work performed and the front desk performing simple tasks. The latest issue is a filling that was done on a cavity for my daughter. Her tooth has been hurting since she walked out of the office while it was still supposed to be numb from the procedure. It's been 5 months since, and her pain has become unbearable. I finally had to call another dentist for an emergency visit. They requested that a copy of her X-rays be emailed from Family Health Dental. I filled out Family Health Dental's release form. I dropped it off in person. Family Dental printed them up to hand to our new dentist. Intuition told me that these wouldn't be the high resolution that were needed. I asked if they could email them now since I had a 1:00 pm visit. The front desk employee said sure. Well, we're at the emergency dental visit. They need the high resolution X-rays. I called Family Dental. They informed me that the person who could access the system, wouldn't be in until tomorrow. Nobody told me that when I was there. My daughter is sitting in the chair now. When your child is in this much pain, you pay for the new X-rays. Stay clear of Family Health Dental. A filling sitting on top of a nerve, and a front desk that will never be able to get things right the first time. Problems with billing in the past, getting approval for what they call a "deep cleaning". I brush and floss several times per day. A deep cleaning approval? They called me 13 months later to tell me it's been approved. That one was a classic Family Health Dental move. Well, I asked the dentist who did the root canal on my daughter, to send the X-Rays to her new dentist who would be completing the finishing work on the tooth. She said she would do just that. The new dentist never got the X-Rays. I called back the root canal dentist on Hylan. Another receptionist issue. "I sent them to your dentist. Family Health Dental." I couldn't believe what I just heard her say. I asked if she had a digital copy. No. "That's the only copy. Just call Family Health and they'll have them for you." I asked her if she understands that I'm going to call there, that they'll swear they don't have them, and now, my daughter will need new X-Rays at the dentist who will finish the work. She said it's sent in a large envelope and that she finds it odd that I didn't try to call first before making that assumption. Again, these were supposed to go to a dentist, Dr. Mattia on Forest Ave. Not Family Health. It was in her notes. "Do Not Send To Family Health Dental". I went to the office of Family Health. No X-Rays. I went back to the root canal dentist who sent them to Family Health and called again in front of them. Same answer on speaker phone. I then asked how we resolve this. Why should my daughter be exposed to so much radiation? They said that they don't know what to tell me. "I sent them to your dentist." Fine. Their review will follow. My daughter had her tooth X-rayed by Dr. Mattia on Forrest Ave. We had no other choice than to do another set. He does great work. He put a post in and filled the tooth. This was a healthy tooth that Family Health Dental ruined by drilling too close to the nerve. The debacle with the lost X-Rays from Family Health, two sets to be exact, is best described as macabre. Stay away from this place. Call around. I have MetLife and UFT dental. The UFT doesn't reimburse dentists well so they're dropping from the UFT network. That leaves desperate dentists with a poor track record. Ask if they take UFT dental. If they do, be aware of patient reviews. I wish I had read the reviews first.

Had to get 2 root canals done at this Staten Island dentist. During consultation, they said they could only start both next visit. When I got there, didn't even have time to sit in the waiting room before they called me. The dentist and assistant were extremely kind - she said she'd start both root canals, finished one, then halfway through decided to finish the second too. Had a late appointment and she didn't have to stay, but she did. That's why 5 stars for this Staten Island dental care.

AVOID THIS OFFICE ! ITS A MEAT FACTORY ! Dr Herman is a butcher , talked my 16 y old out of sedation to get her 4 wisdom teeth out , said it’s going to take 30 minutes and sedation is dangerous and takes a very long time ! It took him 2 hours to butcher her teeth out while she was bleeding extremely and crying because he was very annoyed with assistant, yelling at her , and took two breaks to run and do other patients!!! The office was over booked with patients complaining and waiting for hours! He did not prescribe any medication for my child at all , said just give her Tylenol and Motrin ! We had to go see an emergency doctor at another location in Bklyn because the doctor was on vacation for two weeks according to the extremely rude front desk trashy receptionist ! The other doctor prescribed antibiotics immediately ! My daughter was so swollen and in pain and lost all feeling to her tongue. Two months later still numb tongue, he damaged her nerve ! Trying to see him now is impossible without waiting for hours and while waiting the rude receptionist tells us we have to reschedule because he’s very busy ! Two weeks later calls before an appointment to reschedule again ! When asked how long the wait will be she said non of your business , and started mocking my accent ! AVOID THIS OFFICE AT ALL COSTS ! NOT WORTH THE AGGRAVATION ! Nasty trash receptionist and a butcher doctor !

Dr. Cosman is fine, but the staff are poor. My son had wisdom teeth extracted and was told by reception that they would call in the prescription. When pharmacy said they had not received call, my wife called Family Health Dental and was told they were calling it in "right now." An hour later the pharmacy still had not received a call. We called back Family Dental and got a recording that the office was closed (though according to the hours on the message they should have been open for another 20 minutes). I left a message to have someone call me back. That was fifteen minutes ago. According to my watch, their office should still be open. I sure hope my son gets his prescription!

Be careful of their scam! Rosalie who is the only one who can email records or handle billing who is only there 2 days a week does not enter information correctly. My insurance literally covers EVERYTHING yet since I have gone to them the last 4 months, I keep receiving bills. They incorrectly put in for x-rays and the insurance company even laughed at them telling them on the phone they WERE PAID! Now they say I owe for another xray that I was specifically told in person WAS covered. It was not. Insurance says all they had to do was check and they would've seem I had already had this type of xray. Now they are giving me insane stress as they refuse to take responsibility for THEIR mistake! Aside from the fact that they supposedly put in for a root canal & crown on my tooth from January and keep saying they are STILL awaiting approval. My insurance company says they never received this claim!! I'm waiting 4 months now for something that never got put in for! How is this possible? ?! I wish I went off my instinct when I read these reviews in January. I was scared off but felt bad as I had made an appointment already. Always go with instinct. Besides the fact that the dr was "knocking on wood" that I don't get pregnant so he can work on me (not a clue maybe I am trying to and that that was a horribly insensitive thing to say to a woman! I've never had such problems. They get 1 star because the hygienist is really sweet.

I waited 2 months for a regular cleaning appointment from this place, during my visit they only took a few pictures of my mouth then told me I had to make ANOTHER appointment for a CLEANING! They are just money hungry and do not care about you. I had to leave work early to make this appointment and it was a complete waste of my time. But wait it gets better..my appointment wasn't for another month! I called my insurance immediately and made an appointment for another dental office.

The receptionists out front are absolute garbage. They're rude and refuse to help give or explain anything even though it's one of the very few things these people actually have to do. When I was seemingly annoyed, they then told me that the office manager (the staff, not the dentists) decided to drop me because of "personal conflict." The dentists as well as the dental hygienists are good which is a shame. But don't take my word for it, just read all the other gleaming reviews specifically about the staff out front...

I'm shocked by these reviews. I go there every 3 months for a cleaning and the hygienist is wonderful. Also, I had a re-contouring of one quadrant at another periodondist's office, and it was a positively horrific experience. I had the other 3 quadrants done here, by Dr. Plotno, and the experience, while still an unpleasant dental procedure, couldn't have gone better, or been more contrasted by my horrible previous experience elsewhere. I've been coming here for 3 years now, and I've never had a problem with anyone in the office.

Horrible Dentist, they tell you that you need procedures that you don't need so that they can bill your insurance. I am 29, they made me see the periodontist who said that the only thing that would save my teeth was a laser treatment that wasn't covered by insurance and that cost $4800.00. He said if I didn't get it I would loose all my teeth in two years. When I went for a second opinion they told me that there was nothing wrong with my gums they just needed a cleaning. They also billed my insurance for 3 root canals which they didn't even tell me I needed. Then when I refused the procedure and went to another dentist they told me I didn't need a root canal at all. Aside from the fact that these people are arrogant, incompetent, morons they are just bad dentist and quacks and I am contemplating a law suit against them. Keep yourself and family away.
