Honestly, if I could give minus stars, I would. This has to be the most incompetent dental practice I've ever dealt with in Washington, DC. From the receptionist to the dentist, it was unacceptable at every level. When they did my x-rays for what should've been general dentistry, they missed an entire side of my mouth and didn't even retake them. The dentist rushed through my cleaning so much that I question if it was even done properly. And when I asked them to send my x-rays to another dentist, they told me it would take a week! Just completely unprofessional.
We take all feedback seriously at Friendship Smiles in Washington, DC. While we have no record of your visit, we'd like to understand what happened. Please call our office so we can look into your concerns about our general dentistry services and address them properly.
Dr. Nawabi is seriously amazing! She's so patient and takes the time to explain every step of my treatment, which really helps me feel comfortable. I've had several procedures done with her, and she's always gentle and reassuring. The office here in Washington, DC is welcoming, and the staff is super friendly. What really stands out is her expertise with jaw issues like TMJ - she's truly a godsend for anyone dealing with that. Honestly, if you're looking for a compassionate and skilled dentist in DC, I can't recommend her enough for orthodontics and general dentistry needs.
Thank you for sharing your experience with Dr. Nawabi! We're so glad she could provide such compassionate care for your orthodontics and TMJ concerns here at Friendship Smiles in Washington, DC. We look forward to continuing to serve you and your dental needs.
I've been coming to this Washington, DC dental office for years, putting up with their crazy disorganization - constant misinformation, front desk mix-ups, and having every single appointment canceled or rescheduled. The dental care used to be okay, which is why I stuck around. But my recent appointment was just bizarre. The dentist (who never even introduced herself) was 10 minutes late for my first appointment of the day. Then she had me suction for her because her assistant called out sick, and she kept mentioning she didn't know how to use certain equipment. For general dentistry in DC, this was just unacceptable.
We apologize for the disorganization and concerning experience you described with our general dentistry services in Washington, DC. At Friendship Smiles, we're reviewing our scheduling and staff training procedures to prevent such issues. Please contact our office manager directly so we can make this right.
My new provider at this Washington, DC dental office gave me the utmost care, patience, and persistence. Honestly, it's been well over a decade since I've had a dental professional perform with such skill and dedication. Benjamin Pass was absolutely perfect in how he handled everything - not just going through the motions, but really caring about the quality of work. I'm not being biased here, I just have to acknowledge his perfection when it comes to dental care. Any patient in DC looking for cosmetic dentistry or general dentistry would be lucky to have someone of his caliber.
Thank you for recognizing Benjamin's dedication to patient care! We're proud to have providers like him offering exceptional cosmetic dentistry services at Friendship Smiles in Washington, DC. We appreciate you sharing your experience and hope to continue serving your dental needs.
After needing an emergency root canal in Washington, DC, I went to Friendship Smiles and was blessed to get an appointment within a week. I'm still going through ongoing treatment since I have a few issues to address, but I'm really grateful for their services. The front desk, especially Gloria, was super pleasant and helpful. Dr. Pass and Andres worked together so well on my endodontics - they put in the hard work to address my issues, and the process was pretty painless. Honestly, things are moving forward toward having a healthy smile, and this place has given me hope about my dental health in DC.
Hi Mykia, we're glad Dr. Pass, Andres, and Gloria could provide such positive care for your emergency endodontics needs. Thank you for trusting Friendship Smiles with your dental health in Washington, DC. We look forward to continuing your treatment journey toward that healthy smile!
My first visit to this Washington, DC dental office was great. The staff were nice and helpful, and the doctor was very caring - he explained every treatment step to me. What really stood out was how they worked with me financially since I'm on a tight budget. They did all my x-rays the same day, which was super convenient. For anyone in DC needing general dentistry or cosmetic dentistry services, I'll definitely be referring my friends and family here. The whole experience just made dental care feel accessible and comfortable.
Thank you for your kind words about your first visit! We're happy we could accommodate your budget while providing quality general dentistry care at Friendship Smiles in Washington, DC. We appreciate you considering referrals and look forward to serving you and your loved ones.
My entire family has been going to Friendship Smiles for years here in Washington, DC. Dr. Nawabi is friendly and really pays attention to what's going on with our teeth. Gloria is the gentlest dental assistant and super helpful when it comes to figuring out insurance copays and payment plans. Whether it's for our kids' pediatric dentistry or our own general dentistry needs, we always feel well taken care of. Honestly, if you're looking for reliable dental care in DC, we definitely recommend Friendship Smiles for families.
Thank you for being such loyal patients over the years! We're grateful to care for your entire family's pediatric dentistry and general dentistry needs at Friendship Smiles in Washington, DC. Dr. Nawabi, Gloria, and our whole team appreciate your recommendation and continued trust.
I had a great experience as a new patient. They did a thorough cleaning and even made time for a cavity filling so I didn’t have to do a second trip. 😍
Horrible service at this Washington, DC dental office! They canceled my scheduled oral surgery to remove a wisdom tooth three times at the last minute, and they'd already charged part of the fee. There's no sense of care for patients here - the doctor doesn't seem to care at all. Other than the front desk people, no office manager or doctor would even speak with me after canceling three times. They wouldn't even give out their office manager's phone number, saying it's confidential information and she's only in once a month. For oral surgery in DC, this place is just terrible to deal with.
We sincerely apologize for the cancellations and communication issues with your oral surgery in Washington, DC. At Friendship Smiles, we're addressing our scheduling and management protocols to prevent such situations. Please contact our office directly so we can resolve this matter and discuss your wisdom tooth removal needs properly.
Friendship Smiles staff are friendly and helpful, from Wendy and Gloria who are very accommodating with scheduling, dental hygienist are very thorough and the dentists answers my questions regarding my oral health and plans for braces and implants.
You must be more organized or an untrained intake assistant—take your pick. Yikes. The website portal for new patients doesn't work, and the paperwork, with the number of signatures requested, was over the top. Typically, when you walk into a dentist's office, you may need to complete a few pages, but asking the patient to transcribe the Delta Dental data is ridiculous and unnecessary! The place looks jaded. The equipment looks like a starter kit. They use the same piece of cardboard to position your teeth for the image, and there are zero assistants—only the doctor, who examines and then spends 10 minutes cleaning your teeth. Never once during the teeth cleaning did he ask for the water tube or suction. When he was done, he left the bloody dental instruments lying out. I believe the doctors who opened the clinic are shysters and are only concerned about profit. By the way, the place did not have the typical smell of a dentist's office but more like Azz & Mold or something worse. Lol. So, intake person, if you want to know why I was frowning, it’s because I walked into a funk! Not cool.
Writing this not as a patient but for my brother-in-law who I sat with during his appointment. We arrived at 5:50 for his 6:10 appointment at this Washington, DC dental office. There were four other people waiting already, and the receptionist mentioned the doctor wasn't even in yet - he was running late. We waited an hour and a half before they took him back. He was supposed to get oral surgery for wisdom teeth removal, but somehow they didn't have enough staff to do the procedure? We sat for two hours total in the waiting room. For emergency services or oral surgery in DC, this was just unacceptable organization.
We apologize for the long wait and staffing issues during your brother-in-law's scheduled oral surgery. As a military oral surgeon, our provider had an urgent surgical case that delayed his arrival at our Washington, DC office. At Friendship Smiles, we're working to improve our communication about such situations. Please have him contact us to reschedule his wisdom teeth removal.
Terrible. Everyone I go to this office there is a new trauma. Yesterday. They made me wait for two hours, and then asked me to schedule visit some other day, to get the implant done. Wasting full two hours! Can you imagine. I do not want to write about the failed implant they did the first time around. Now they have a new specialist, who cannot show up on time. Terrible, terrible, terrible.
We are surprised to read of the experience described in your review of your visit to our office. We would welcome an opportunity to discuss your post with you in the spirit of addressing your concerns and coming to mutual understanding. We understand that your time is precious. That’s why at Friendship Smiles we make every effort to see patients on time. Sometimes it is not possible to live up to that goal despite our intentions. On the day of your appointment, the surgeon had to care for a patient at the hospital who was experiencing an unexpected emergency, which unfortunately delayed his arrival at our office. When the surgeon did arrive, we ensured you received priority to consult with him. Now that you are aware of the circumstances, we ask for your understanding regarding the cause of the delay of the start time for your appointment. We sincerely hope you will accept our offer to discuss this matter. Please reach out to us.
Update: I’m
Checking other reviews! They’re very accurate this place treats Medicaid badly the receptionist are rude and insensitive and agin they did a procedure on me and then told me I’m responsible for paying and my insurance didn’t cover everything! Someone to look into the employees agin I’m not sure if they’re a little racist or what I just know they’ve made difficult for me
I’m asking for the owner to reach out to me with a call back number so I share my experience. I do feel every judge and like it’s a racism or SOMETHING is a wrong. The receptionist are very insensitive to me! It depends on how you’re looking. I was told after I been here and had procedures done that I would have to pay and my insurance didn’t cover everything. I thought it was the right for person to be told before anything gets done to a client It to made clear first before being inclined to make payments and wasn’t even aware! I have my appoint canceled twice with no call and after coming there. The last I was on time they had me wait then took someone else happened to white before me as soon as she came in. It’s very sad. The receptionist have made feel bad and made it hard me and told me Medicaid patients only have two to choose from to come in I work and four kids and they’ve just made it hard for me. I went to just pay for my veneers to get out on because agin I have had a good experience at all and been asking for the owners information to reach out to me since I been there
Unfortunately, we have no records of you as a patient of this practice and are unaware of your treatments by us. However, if you feel that you have been to our office as a patient, please call us in order for us to clarify the issues that you have raised. Thank you
I get really nervous about dental visits, but at Friendship Smiles in Washington, DC, Dr. Sherri Nawabi makes me feel so comfortable. She explains in great detail what needs to be done and why, which really helps my anxiety. I've been coming here for over 15 years now. When it comes to appointments and billing, she has the best office assistants - Wendy and Gloria are experts at what they do, and their customer service is absolutely the best. Once you visit for cosmetic dentistry or general dentistry in DC, you'll keep coming back. They just make the whole experience positive.
Hi Michael, thank you for sharing how Dr. Nawabi and our team help ease your dental anxiety. We're honored to have provided your cosmetic dentistry care for over 15 years at Friendship Smiles in Washington, DC. Wendy, Gloria, and everyone here appreciate your loyalty and look forward to your next visit.
Dr.Z was kind in his interactions with me the customer as well with the assistant and the office staff. He was patient, professional and highly skilled. His experience really showed through during my procedure. The workers at the front desk we friendly and professional. Every one was helpful even though it was the end of the day. I would recommend this dentist!
Hi, Wendy. We are thrilled to learn that you had a positive experience with us!
Went for an appointment. The bad reviews scared me and I attempted to leave. The receptionist was very pushy about signing to have my insurance billed. (I had to submit it before coming in) No services were rendered I did not sign. The dental staff their were Kurt and the whole thing made me so uncomfortable. I'm glad I called my insurance after sending me 3 follow up calls for filings I never said I wanted- I learn they committed insurance fraud. Still waiting to here back if they forged my signature. DO NOT GO HERE.
We usually don’t answer any negative reviews because we take pride in our honesty and our services, however we are making an exception in this case. Throughout your appointment you acted weird when our staff talked to you, you made faces, they felt as if you were being racial towards them and the doctor. Our office has camaras we have a recording of you being seen and services being performed at the office. You should not put across false allegations about insurance fraud, we take this accusation very seriously and have contacted your insurance and we will provide any information they may request. We treat everyone with the same respect at the office and the way you behaved was not acceptable and now going ahead putting up a negative review on the internet to misguide other patients and customers is something very unruly. Our team is dedicated to providing excellent customer service, and we strive for 100% satisfaction with every appointment you have.
I have always been very satisfied with Dr. Nawabi's dental work and as such I have been a patient for a few years. Typically I don't write reviews but Dr. Nawabi displayed a sense of sensitivity and professionalism that I felt that I wanted to share with others. Last night I came in to have an impression taken for my recently uncovered transplant. As it turned out the flipper (temporary denture) that we made to substitute for my front tooth wouldn't fit and it didn't look like there was any way to modify the existing flipper. Recognizing that it was very important for me to appear professional in my upcoming business meetings, Dr. Nawabi used "out of the box" thinking and her excellent dental skills to grind a hole that would allow me to use the existing flipper. I would have been very easy and understandable for her to tell me that I had to wait 2 weeks for the new crown to be made, but she took the time to make it fit the best she could. I don't know if it will ultimately hold up; but I was very impressed with her concern and ability to go beyond the call of duty to help me out. After all that is what we all hope for in our dentists.

Hi, Jan. Your feedback is highly appreciated. Thank you for the review!

I don’t like to visit the dentist , but she made my experience so comfortable, and relaxed cause I felt she knew exactly what she was doing and gave her professional suggestions ,not pushy at all 👍🏼👍🏼. I really hope she will stay there for long time 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼. I also like Gloria super sweet , helpful and very kind .

Hi, Nury. Your feedback is highly appreciated. Thank you for the review!
Predatory Behavior. I found this dental practice to be incompetent and eager to skirt the rules. Back in 2014, I was looking for a dentist near me and went in to see the Dr. The front desk staff seemed unsure of themselves and noted they were new. Then the person who cleaned my teeth mentioned they were a temp worker. Then the dentist came in and claimed I had 5-6 teeth on the way to having cavities (when my previous dentist, who I went to for years, had never mentioned these). The Dentist started going on about how it was easier to go ahead and get the teeth drilled and filled and do this out of pocket rather than go through insurance, and the only thing I could think was "get me out of this chair". I ended the appointment and got out of there as quickly as possible. I never went back and found a new dentist. The practice called me to make another appointment and I asked them to never call me again. But a few months later, a different front desk person called to schedule an appointment. I repeated my ask to not call me. This repeated a few times before I finally blocked the number. All was quiet for about 2 years until they called me from A NEW NUMBER. And yes, it was yet another new front desk person. I added the number to the blocked call list and have now started getting email requests from them, despite having unsubscribed numerous times. I haven't been in since 2014 and am still being hounded by these people.
Hello Adam, thank you for sharing your experience from 2014. The front desk staff has been changed a few times in the last 6 years and we apologize if you had encountered one who had given you misinformation. This office is owned by Dr. Nawabi and we would not suggest paying for fillings out of pocket. We would love to have you back sometime to give us another try as we are sure we would exceed expectations. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us at any time. Thank you.
