As someone who gets really anxious about dental visits, I've got to say this office in Metuchen is amazing. Both the hygienist and doctor were so patient with me, explaining every step and just being kind and friendly. If you get nervous going to the dentist, definitely give Legacy Dental a try — they really know how to make it stress-free. I’m leaving this review to share a very unhappy experience with Dr. Nasr at Legacy Dental in Metuchen. While the staff was polite and friendly, my experience did not reflect the high rating I expected.
During one of my cleanings here, the hygienist clearly pointed out a shadow on one of my teeth and mentioned it could be a cavity but the dentist would evaluate it. When Dr. Nasr evaluated it, he said it was due to “overuse.” I did not fully understand that explanation, but I trusted the assessment
Over the following months, I saw Dr. Nasr several more times because I kept having odd pain and concerns on that same side. At one point I didn’t even have health insurance and had to pay their $300 out of pocket annual service just to have him recheck everything. “You are fine” he said. Each visit, I was reassured that everything was fine, but then a year later I had a cavity filled in the same spot.
Fast forward almost a year: I switched to a local family dentist, and another dentist later diagnosed a cavity in the same area.
At my first visit back, both the hygienist (pointed out might be a cavity) and the dentist immediately confirmed that the shadow was in fact a cavity, in the same area. I am now getting it filled this Thursday… thank god it isn’t a root canal and tooth extractions.
What makes this so frustrating is that this cavity could have been treated early, but it was not identified as a cavity during my prior visits.
Everyone at this office was nice and polite but ultimately I feel like preventative practice isn’t in this office’s MO. I spent a lot of money coming here being told I was fine repeatedly and although a cavity was later diagnosed elsewhere. They had the my previous X-rays that my dentist cross referenced with their X-rays and they diagnosed it as a cavity.
I would encourage others to seek a second opinion if they have ongoing concerns…

Once a tooth is treated, it cannot be “untreated,” so we do not recommend fillings unless clinical findings clearly show 100% active decay. Some shadows on X-rays can represent staining, overlap, or areas that are appropriate to monitor rather than treat immediately.
Cavities can develop or progress over time, meaning an area that did not require treatment at one visit may later need a filling. Our philosophy is always to preserve healthy tooth structure and avoid unnecessary treatment.

First visit to Legacy Dental in Metuchen, NJ today, and I was really impressed. The dental hygienist Dawn, the receptionist, and Dr. Nasr all treated me great. Got greeted by a friendly lady, waited barely any time, and Dawn took x-rays and gave me a thorough cleaning with fluoride. Dr. Nasr reviewed everything and suggested a plan — it's been a while since my last dental visit, but this made it easy. Honestly, who actually enjoys going to the dentist? But my appointment at Legacy Dental in Metuchen, NJ totally changed my mind. Samantha at the front desk made me feel so welcome right away, and Dawn the hygienist was amazing — super gentle and really explained everything. I was in NJ for the holidays had a very painful toothache, Called and got a same day appointment. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Dr Nasr after reviewing X-rays referred me to a specialist which I was able to get an appointment with in a few days. . Dr Nasr gave me a prescription for antibiotics which helped greatly. The pain is now bearable. I would like to thank Dr Nasr and his staff for their help .

The entire experience is always pleasant whenever I come for my routine teeth cleaning. Firstly there is never any wait time; as soon as I check in and have a seat, I get called in. The hygienist does the teeth cleaning. I usually get Vickie, and she does a great job of ensuring that I am comfortable and I never feel any pain. And then the best part is Dr. Michael Nasr, who excels in every aspect whether it be dental knowledge, friendliness, not recommending services for no reason to make money, etc. Good thing that we live very close, but I'd even travel a long distance just for Dr. Michael and the team.

Dr. Nasr and everyone at this office in Metuchen are top-tier. Everyone's extremely nice and explains things even if you ask more than once — no losing patience, they're here to actually help. I got two teeth crowned and even fell asleep during it, they did a great job. With the temporary ones, it doesn't look like I got any work done. Best dentist office I've ever been to in NJ, highly recommend for dental implants or any cosmetic dentistry needs.
