The service at this Washington, DC dentist is fine, but I had to wait over an hour after my appointment time to actually see the dentist. Honestly, it felt pretty absurd—they really need to get better at scheduling appointments to avoid these long waits.

My first visit to this Washington, DC dentist was supposed to be a routine cleaning since I'd just had one three months ago. But it ended up costing me $150, and I didn't feel like I got the full cleaning I expected—no X-ray even though my insurance covers it. When I questioned the pricing, they lowered it to $103, but I still wasn't convinced. Some services were done without telling me there'd be a fee, which I've gotten for free at other offices. They eventually agreed to adjust the total, but the whole experience was frustrating.
We apologize for the billing confusion during your dental checkup in Washington, DC. At Michael G. Landy, DDS, FAGD, PC, we're committed to transparent communication about costs and services. We'll review our procedures to ensure this doesn't happen again.
Honestly, the associate dentists at this Washington, DC practice are amazing! Dr. Garg had the best bedside manner and was super gentle, and Dr. Ansari even found a cavity that Dr. Landy missed on my first visit. The office staff were always kind and kept me in the loop. But I'm not a fan of Dr. Landy's approach—he brought up issues with my teeth that no other dentist ever mentioned and pushed really expensive products. I kept going because the other dentists were so great, but Landy himself was always disappointing.
Thanks for sharing your feedback about our Washington, DC dental practice. We're glad you had positive experiences with Dr. Garg and Dr. Ansari for your general dentistry needs. We take all patient concerns seriously and will review our communication practices. Michael G. Landy, DDS, FAGD, PC values every patient's experience.

Absolutely the best Dentist on planet earth!! Thank you for rebuilding and maintaining my mouth and smile!! You and Delta Dental are stars on my team!!
Everything went well. Dr. Landy and his staff are great! Very kind and professional. Always very accommodating with scheduling changes and adjustments. I’m a second generation customer and there’s a good reason for it. Thank you Dr. Landy and staff!
I’ve been here twice now and my consistent impression is that they are always trying to sell you something. The first time I went I came in for a regular cleaning (covered by insurance), and I left with a $100+ bill. Gave them a second try and knew to deny the screening and flouride. They use presumptive language and don’t warn you that extra services are not covered in your cleaning. Understand it’s a small practice, and they need to make money, but doesn’t scream patient-centered care.
Dr. Landy has been our dentist for about 30 years. His technical skills are outstanding and he keeps up with the latest trends and new developments in dentistry. His staff is always helpful and friendly, especially Pam. I've grown fond of Pam over the years for sure.
I have visited this dentist before and it was a good experience but I went in for a broken tooth repair because Dr. Landy had placed a partial crown on the tooth that broke and the visit left me still in shock. My appointment was scheduled for 3:30 before their 4:00 close time which I’m sure contributed to the way everything was handled. The doctor briefly told me it wasn’t the crown but the side of the tooth that was broken and he said he’s “going to try to do something to fix it”.
Without any numbing, any prior financial consent, or any procedural authorization, the dentist went in and started working on the tooth. Once he started working on the tooth with an urgency I have never experienced before, I put my hand up due to the discomfort, pain, and confusion I was experiencing and he did not stop nor slow down to ease my discomfort but rather just kept saying “it’s almost done”. At this point, I still didn’t know what “it” was nor why the dentist was rushing so much. During the procedure, the dentist was frustrated because I was over salivating and instead of slowing down and making sure there was sufficient suction and my face wasn’t getting covered in my saliva, he seemed to just speed up to try to get whatever work he needed in.
Once the procedure was over, I stood up still confused at the urgency of the procedure and when the dental assistant asked if I was good , I clearly responded with “I’m not sure what just happened, that was a lot” and she clearly understood because she said she could see my discomfort and confusion during the procedure.
When I went to the front desk, I was being charged around 300$ for a procedure I didn’t even get to accept nor deny and a cost that was never discussed with me. If I knew I was going to pay 300$ for a temporary fix that the dentist said he didn’t know how long it was gonna last, without being able to properly floss because the repair is now obstructing my ability to remove the floss upwards through the teeth (instead I was told I need floss and remove it sideways), I would have very clearly gone to a dentist who was going to take his time and numb me and explain what was happening and stop when I told him I was in pain.
Waited 45 mins to be seen after making a new patient appointment for cleaning and X-rays. After the X-rays I was told they can’t/dont don’t do cleaning the same day. Which wasn’t told to me before hand. They also was trying to upsell me on things like a $1000 night guard. Big waste of time. I will not be returning as a patient. They gave some BS excuse as to why they don’t clean an x-ray on the same day, but I have been to dentist across the country and I have never ran into that issue.
My wife and I have been coming to Dr Michael Landy for all our dental needs for over 30 years. The care we receive is and always has been the best. The staff are kind, knowledgeable, and very friendly. Dr Landy sets the tone for the office with his professionalism, knowledge, and care and he's always willing to answer questions. The office is convenient, inviting, and parking is easy on side streets (or, at the right hours, right in front of the building). I highly recommend Dr Michael G. Landy for all your dental needs.
