New in town and wanted a dentist close to home in Denville. The receptionist turned me away, saying they have co-pays and fees if insurance doesn't pay. Isn't that normal? My insurance was good. She assumed I couldn't pay—so judgmental. As a nursing professional, I was appalled. Guess the culture here is judgmental. Not a good first impression.

Wonderful dentist and excellent staff at North Jersey Pediatric Dentistry in Denville. My son saw Dr. Malecz from about 18 months old until age 20, every six months for checkups and cleanings. We always felt well cared for. Highly recommend for pediatric dental care!

I would give this place a 0 if I could. Very rude staff & the doctor is even worse. (The doctor & the receptionist didn’t place me on hold while talking about me, so I heard everything.) Terrible customer service, won’t take my daughter there again. Figures....the doctor has a 3.3 rating anyway.

Would NOT recommend. At my last cleaning, they said zero cavities. A few weeks later I got a tooth infection and needed a root canal—had to go to another dentist since Dr. M was on vacation. That new dentist took X-rays and found six other cavities, one big enough it might also need a root canal. They said cavities that large don't develop overnight, so I probably had them at my last two cleanings when Dr. M said no cavities. Plus, I never got a proper cleaning there. The new dentist gave me a thorough scaling, which I'd never had before.

Honestly, I'm really disappointed with our experience at North Jersey Pediatric Dentistry in Denville. The staff was rude, especially the X-ray technician who told my 4-year-old son they'd get a machine to pry his mouth open if he didn't cooperate—which was a lie and just scared him more. Then Dr. Malecz laughed through the rest of the checkup while my son was crying. After two years of going there, my son never got a proper cleaning or scaling. When we switched to a new dentist, they gave him a full cleaning and I realized what we'd been missing. Not a good place for kids at all.

It's been 8 or so years and I still have a traumatic fear of dentists from my experience here. Dr. Malecz wasn't sensitive to my needs. I have a small mouth and needed extractions to make room for permanent teeth. As a kid, it was uncomfortable, but Dr. Malecz made it worse. One time, he extracted 6 teeth instead of the 2 I was told. That really messed with me. I can't recommend this place.

A few years ago Dr. Malecz pulled my son's 8 baby teeth at once, saying the new ones were growing and there was no space. I trusted his opinion. But that messed up my son's jaw—the new teeth didn't grow for a long time and now he has less space. One tooth is growing into his gum. It'll take a long time to fix. I wouldn't trust him again.

Amazing experience for my nervous daughter! Dr. Malecz performed a double tooth extraction at North Jersey Pediatric Dentistry in Denville, and she didn't even realize it was done. If I could give zero stars I would! My grandson went for fillings and had a hard time lying flat and gagging. Dr. Malecz has no compassion—got irritated quickly and threatened him with a drill and needles. The assistant said they'd force hold him down if needed. My grandson gagged so bad he choked and puked, then walked out. I was in the waiting room and saw him leave. Unacceptable.

Dr. Malecz is phenomenal with my kids, ages 3 and 5. He's very patient and works well with them. If they don't cooperate, he's willing to give them time to calm down and reschedule.
