Took my two boys to see Shaye the dental hygienist today, and she was absolutely fantastic! So gentle and thorough with their pediatric dentistry in Staten Island. She checked on them constantly and explained everything in a way kids can understand. Had a frustrating experience at the Tottenville location on 1/17/2026. When I called to schedule a filling in Staten Island, I mentioned I'd just had a cleaning. They said I needed another one first, then told me the schedule was full. The front desk rep, Kristina, wasn't helpful when I pointed out the miscommunication. Really disappointing for what should've been simple emergency dental care.

It’s always a pleasure going to the dentist, when your dentist is Dr. Kamil at Oakwood Dental. I met him 2 years ago and I’ve decided from the 1st appointment with him I’d only be going to him. In all my years going to dentist since I’m a child I’ve never had better experiences. Dr. Rao deserves 10+ stars—he's incredible! As a cosmetic dentist in Staten Island, his attention to detail and genuine care are amazing. He even skipped lunch to fix a scheduling mistake. But the front desk staff? Zero stars. They messed up my appointment and weren't helpful at all. Dr. Rao's skill with dental implants is top-notch, but the office coordination needs serious work.

Okay, full disclosure: I hate dentists. My anxiety is Olympic-level bad. But Dr. Ronald Rio at Oakwood Dental in Staten Island is my hero. He talked me through everything so calmly during my sedation dentistry appointment—had me breathing normally in minutes. Even said he was proud of me! I had become concerned about a tooth and booked an appointment with Oakwood Dental in Tottenville. I did not request a specific dentist. I was seen by Dr. Sharon Garma, a dentist I had not met before.
I explained the reason for my visit. Dr. Garma listened carefully, examined the tooth, and then explained fully what she found and what treatment was best among several possibilities. I agreed and Dr. Garma skillfully performed the needed procedures. Afterward, she took additional time to show me the X-ray of the tooth and even photographed it with her iPad so that I could see exactly what had been done.
What impressed me deeply was that Dr. Garma saw me as a person with a tooth problem and not just another tooth to fix. It made the process one in which I could relax, knowing I was in the best of caring hands. Should I require further dental work, Dr. Sharon Garma will be my sole choice.

Today was my first visit for an initial consultation. I couldn't be more pleased and impressed with the professionalism of the office staff, who went above and beyond to accommodate my situation. Excellent customer service. Dr. Ruggeri immediately focused on my needs and made me feel as if I was in capable caring hands. The experience so far exceeded all my expectations.
