Dr. Leona, or the tooth fairy as my kids call her, is absolutely the most amazing dentist! She's so knowledgeable and has such an amazing approach with kids. My 5-year-old was terrified to come for the first time, but she left happy and not scared at all—excited to come back! Today was my sons first visit to Dr. Kotlyar. I dont know where to begin to share my appreciation for the patience, kindness, professionalism and personal approach she took while caring for my son. My son has severe anxiety when going to see doctors and especially when going to the dentist. We went to a special needs dentist who was recommended due to a supposed specialized approach (which of course costs a premium) and my son wouldnt even get into the dental chair with her. She wasnt even able to examine him because he was so nervous to even open his mouth near her. I was so nervous about taking him to amy new dentist but the second we stepped into Dr. Kotlyars office her staff were super kind, sweet, professional - and the place was immaculately clean and built with children and parents in mind. As soon as we were brought into the examination room Dr. Kotlyar immediately addressed my son in a super respectful, clear, kind way and was able to get him to easily sit through a thorough exam and even xrays! She explained everything she was going to do before she did it, both to him and to me, and by the end of the visit I was so relieved that I wanted to cry and hug Dr. Kotlyar from sheer relief and gratitude. (Im pretty sure I did hug her and Gd bless her several times! 😆🫣) She also took the time to explain best practices and options for next steps (without pushing anything!) and as soon as we left the office my son said he wants to go back to see Dr. Kotlyar. Even after coming home he said he wants to go back to the dentist! (again- this is a child who was so traumatized from going to a dentist, mostly due to his own anxiety that we didnt go back for over a year and a half!) I could not recommend Dr. Kotlyar enough - she was truly a Gd send today for both my son and for this nervous mama! This is what medical care should look like for kids and adults alike but unfortunately often it does not. Especially because of all the other lackluster care we have seen out there I could not recommend Dr. Kotlyar enough.

Dr. Kotlyar has been my kids' dentist their entire lives and we have followed her to three different locations. Dr. Kotlyar is the quintessential pediatric dentist, or as my children used to call her the "tooth fairy" when they were toddlers. She is extremely knowledgeable, gentle and caring with the children. She does not push any treatment that is not absolutely necessary and can handle those difficult little patients with ease. She has performed a baby root canal on my daughter (not an easy patient) while using only local anesthetic. I am always horrified when I hear of pediatric dentists taking little children into the OR to perform treatment under general anesthesia. Dr. Kotlyar will have your child watching their favorite show on tv while she inconspicuously does her thing and will have them in and out in no time. We used to travel to South Brooklyn to see Dr. Kotlyar when we moved to NJ and I was so happy to learn that she has opened up an office in NJ , which is clean, modern and beautiful. I will add that we still drive about 45 minutes to see her even though there are several recommended pediatric dentists within a 15 minute radius of where we live. If you are looking for a pediatric dentist for your child, this one is an absolute gem.

We are thrilled that Dr. Kotlyar opened this office in Paramus so that we can continue going to her after moving to Bergen County because she is truly the best! She is amazing with kids, extremely knowledable and makes the process for my kids an easy and fun one. We made our first appointment on opening day and the new space is gorgeous. My younger son had a cavity that Dr. Kotlyar used a laser to fix it so no needles needed, it was quick and painless. My son watched TV the whole time and didnt even move.
All three of my kids have been seeing Dr. Leona since they were about 12 months old. Now they're 8, 6, and 4, and every single time they actually run to the dentist! She's super knowledgeable, nice to the kids, and incredibly patient. Gets the work done no matter what. What I appreciate most is she's always available—my boys have had multiple front tooth injuries, and she takes my calls even when she's on vacation. My daughter hops in the chair without any fear. That was my goal, and Dr. Leona at Pristine Pediatric Dentistry in Paramus made it happen. Couldn't be happier.
