Honestly, I was thinking about getting my root canal removed for a post and crown, so I went to RSN Dental in Staten Island, NY today. They were super helpful and gave me tons of info—the doctor even pointed out other things with my teeth I hadn't noticed. They took pictures and X-rays and didn't charge me for the consultation, which was awesome. Compared to other dental offices I've visited around here, the amount of detail they provided was really impressive.

They state that they give free consults for implants but bill your insurance, and want to charge you to receive your own x-rays.
Thank you for your feedback. Just to clarify, we offer free consults to provide our honest opinion about the best treatment option. We do charge for X-rays (if a single X-ray needed we will do it complimentary) . In the past, we provided free X-rays , but reserved the right to charge for providing copies. In your case, patient was seen with a specific problem, not a free implant consult. During the visit implants were suggested as one of the options. We submitted to the insurance for services provided, and asked you to pay coinsurance as indicated by your insurance provider. We are sorry for the misunderstanding. Please, contact our office to get this issue clarified and resolved.
This place is a complete waste of time although they get you into the office by giving you a lot of information during a video where the explain the difference between implants and dentures which is very informative and then at then end of the video they offer you a free consultation with a free panoramic X-ray which they say is a savings of 495$ and in the video the claim they can save you money then the normal astronomical prices that are in the NY area anyone looking into implants probably know what I’m talking about getting it done in the NY area you’re probably getting quotes anywhere from 30k all the way up and beyond 60k well mentioning this to the staff before going to the office and informing them 50k is out of the question and that this was the last shot at looking in the states because place like Mexico or Turkey for example are a fraction of the cost in the states the staff says oh no we are very competitive with the over seas prices well that a lie not only do they waste your time but they are the most expensive cosmetic dental place I went to by almost 20k so if this is a place that you are looking to go to for a second opinion based off of the very informative video I suggest you don’t waste your time!!
DO NOT BOTHER COMING HERE IF YOU DON'T CHECK WITH YOUR INSURANCE FIRST HAND! My mom had to pay $1,800 for a partial because they didn't inform us correctly. Although the dentist was very kind and did a good job with my mom's partial. They said they accepted my mom's insurance but they don't. They accept it out of network and you pay in credit card or cash whatever your insurance doesn't pay. Of course that's why they tried to get us to apply for a credit card in the office the same day my mom was seen. I should've checked with my insurance prior my fault. But it's still misleading. They should tell people first hand we will accept it but we work out of network. That's insurance fraud! And then she tells me "oh whether its out of network or in network, your insurance wouldve paid the same amount." Um no, thats why you have insurance, to be covered or not. In reply to their reply. You guys NEVER once said on the phone that you are "in network with my mom's insurance" your receptionist simply said you guys accept it. You people know what you're doing. I went to another dentist office that stated you guys were wrong for not informing us. That's why you asked for money upfront and then to see what oour insurance will reimburse. Which was peanuts because you're out of pocket! Give me a break. I wouldn't even recommend this office to anyone. I don't "feel" there was a miscommunication, there was one plain and simple.

We are sincerely sorry you feel there was a miscommunication. It is never our intention to mislead our patients, and we do our best to contact insurances and provide all the information received to the patients (over the phone while scheduling the appointment and on the day of appointment). The treatment is never started until Doctor or treatment coordinator goes over details of treatment, payments and expected reimbursement, which we believe was the case. Again, we are sincerely sorry for misunderstanding.
RSN Dental in Staten Island, NY is good for cleanings—I come here regularly, and Olga does a great job. She doesn't rush and takes about 30 minutes, which is nice. Haven't had a good hygienist like her in a long time. But I wouldn't come back for dental work. Paid over $1,200 out of pocket after insurance for a crown, and the dentist didn't do a good job. After a month, the filling came off and left a hole in the crown. So 5 for cleaning, 1 for dental work.

Dr. Vlad Shikhmanter has preformed the SMART Amalgam Removal Technique on two of my pre existing cavities. Dr. Vlad is SMART-certified and that made me know I was in safe hands. One of my aluminum fillings from when I was a child fractured my tooth. Dr. Vlad took the time to go over everything with me and made me feel so comfortable. Him and his staff are not only knowledgeable but also passionate in their practice. I never thought a dentist visit could be relaxing but that’s how my visits feel! Two of my four aluminum fillings have been removed and I couldn’t be happier with the results. Completely pain-free!
