Really liked the staff here! Dental care can get pricey, but their payment plans made my visit much more affordable. It's a relief to find a dentist in Salem that offers financing options—definitely recommend them for checkups or other treatments if you're watching your budget.
Thanks for the kind words! We're glad our payment plans helped make your dental experience in Salem more manageable. Looking forward to seeing you again at Salem Dental Care for your next cleaning or checkup.
They were so patient with me, even when I messed up. Took time to explain everything about what I needed and why, never rushed. It's nice to find a dentist in Salem who actually spends time with their patients like that. Really helpful for someone needing dental work.

Normally have good experiences here, but this time was off. Waited 20 mins past my appointment, which happens, but I took time off work. Called ahead to confirm and get my $74 copay for what I thought was a filling. Dentist came in asking why I wasn't getting bridge work instead, like I scheduled it myself. Felt confusing and unprofessional for emergency dental services in Salem.
We apologize for the confusion with your appointment at Salem Dental Care in Salem, VA. Please call us at 904-429-3446 to discuss your filling and bridge work concerns directly. We value your feedback and want to improve.

Honestly, I've never seen a dental office in Salem, VA this dysfunctional. Took my mom there for partials and every visit was a mess—nothing explained right to us paying customers. Last straw was Tuesday: the room looked dirty. Went back Thursday and it was even worse, with black hairs on the tray and stuff on the so-called sterilized utensils. I've got pictures. Just awful for anyone needing dental care here.
We take cleanliness and patient communication seriously at Salem Dental Care in Salem, VA. Please call us at 540-384-0988 so we can address your concerns about our sterilization and partials process directly. We want to make this right.

Everyone here is great - the admin staff, the technician, and the doctor were all kind, helpful, and efficient. People listened carefully and answered all of my questions. Many thanks!
This feedback means the world to us. Thank you!
This has been the best dentist I have ever been to. They are transparent with the dental costs, friendly and explained in detail what my dental plan was going to be.
Thanks, we appreciate it so much!
Was told to come early, then waited 30-40 mins past my appointment time. My time's as valuable as theirs, you know? They gotta be more careful with scheduling for checkups in Salem, VA. Stuff happens, but it adds up.
Thanks for your honest feedback about the wait time. We'll review our scheduling to improve punctuality for appointments at Salem Dental Care in Salem. Appreciate you letting us know.
Salem Dental Care has been super professional with my dental needs. The staff is friendly and knows their stuff, which really matters. Gave 4 stars 'cause I still need to come back for the actual work, but so far it's been a good experience for preventative care in Salem, VA.
Thanks for the review! We appreciate your feedback and are happy to help with your dental needs in Salem. Can't wait to see you back for your treatment at Salem Dental Care.
Chose this place 'cause it's convenient in Salem, but the service was disappointing—almost felt scammed. Went in for a cavity fill per my last visit, but Dr. Ribas said I needed 2 crowns for $1100 after insurance, which was never discussed before. His lack of professionalism had me questioning things, so I switched to another dentist. Turns out I didn't need crowns at all. Really shaky for restorative dentistry here.
We strive for quality care at Salem Dental Care in Salem, VA. Please call us at 540-384-0988 to discuss your cavity fill and crown concerns. We take this feedback seriously and want to address it directly.
Dr Levine placed 3 crowns in 2023. In month 2 the double crown fell out. He reglued it. Told me there was a 10 year warranty on all dental work (lie). About 8 months later all 3 had fallen out. Dr Levine “suddenly retired”, thus my scheduled appt was canceled.I upset the office manager by filing a complaint with Delta Dental, she went on the “defense”, that’s a whole additional story, told me I needed to “stop my complaining”. Delta was not going to pay for new crowns for 5 years, had no choice but to give new dentist Dr Ribas a chance at a “special price”. Dr Ribas placed 3 temporary crowns. On the day of receiving the permanent crowns I told dental assistant beforehand about the bad pains i was having in tooth #4. She said dr ribas may do xrays to see what was going on before placing the permanent. Dr ribas assured me it was normal temporary crown pain, no xrays were done, not even to see that the new crowns were seated appropriately. I asked how quickly could I be seen if it got worse. He cut his eyes, sighed and mumbled “Monday 8:00”. He then huffed and puffed throughout the remainder of my visit.
By the following Tuesday it had abscessed, I was in excruciating pain. I called the office 2 times. That afternoon dental assistant had receptionist call me to ask what tooth and what’s wrong. I told her. That’s the only time they ever called. No appointment, no help, nothing. Three different people in that office knew I was in trouble. This is unacceptable.
No other dentist I called the following day would help me, said I had to return to dentist who recently placed the crown, this was his responsibility.
So, feeling hopeless, I called Delta Dental. They helped me get in with an endodontist, had to wait 2 weeks for an appt, 1 more week for a root canal, and 1 week after root canal had go back to them to have all that infection drained. I have never been in that much pain before EVER! All of this could have been prevented had Dr Ribas took me seriously and investigated further that day, or at least called me back and worked me in! The longer I waited, the larger that tunnel of infection was growing, I could feel it.
After 3 courses of antibiotics, pain meds from the ER, 3 days missed from work, 6 weeks later am finally feeling better. What a mess!!
With the way Dr Ribas acted that day, he had no intentions of helping me any further. I’m truly sorry he had to fix Dr Levine’s mess (apparently there have been other messes besides mine). Perhaps he didnt make any $ off my case and that’s why he was upset that day. I dont know, but I didnt deserve this. And I dont even want to discuss the $ I am out of!! Tooth pulp #4 went 5 months “bare” without a protective crown, while they were trying to find a new dentist, which is most likely the reason it decayed causing the need for a root canal.
Forget going to the BBB, I tried. Salem Dental Clinic is not BBB accredited, wonder why…
Salem Dental Care is a franchise, basically a drive-thru dentist. There is no “owner” to speak to or to oversee patient care, I’ve tried. It’s useless. Be proactive about your dental health and I strongly urge reader to go somewhere else.
We strive to deliver the highest quality of dental care and great services to our patients. We cannot engage in specific conversations online; we’ll be sure to take the details of your review back to our team.
Best dental experience I’ve ever had! Needed a crown on a lower front tooth. Dr Rivas expertly prepared the tooth and his assistant took the impression, made the temporary crown and used a digital machine to send to the lab. Totally awesome!
Thank you for reviewing our office!
The dental assistants are great!! But, I had a crown replaced on a back tooth. It has come off twice!!!! Completely unacceptable!!! I have left many messages for the office manager over the last month!!! Have never received a call back!!!
DO NOT GO !!

After a bad experience at another dentist earlier this year, a friend suggested Salem Dental. Broke down and made an appointment 'cause I need work to keep eating my burgers and pizza. Surprise—they actually care! Got me in quick, the doctor explained my options, and the staff detailed my insurance and costs. Really impressed with their approach to dental care in Salem.

Had my 1st appt here and was amazed. My dental hygienist Stephanie did the best job. She was highly knowledgeable, professional, competent, and personable.
I will be telling all friends and family to come here specifically because of her. Highly recommend.
The dr and other staff were nice and professional as well.
Thank you for reviewing our office!
What a Great Dental office I have found in Salem Dental Care. Staff was knowledgeable about insurance policies and went above to make sure my insurance coverage was in order. My dental assistant was great. Professional and explained things she was going to do as she proceeded to take
x-rays and clean my teeth. Dentist was great. It had been a little while since I had been to dentist due to some health issues. He was patient, thorough and explained what teeth needed to be taken care of and prioritized the needs. Best experience I have had with a dentist in many years. Highly recommend you give them a call to discuss your own dental needs. I am just thrilled to have a group of people who care about my needs and deliver the best individual care.
100% recommend this wonderful business to all who have dental needs.
