Roberto, Stacey, and Grace are always amazing! We absolutely love Dr. Hammond. All three of my kids actually enjoy going to the dentist and getting their teeth cleaned. Couldn't be happier with the care we get here in Waukee for pediatric dental exams and cleanings.
Thank you for the kind words! We're so glad your kids love coming to Shadow Creek Pediatric Dentistry in Waukee. We'll pass along your praise to Roberto, Stacey, and Grace. See you next time!
I love that Dr. Hammond makes the kids feel so comfortable. My little one finally did an appointment without me, and I'm so proud of her. The pediatric teeth cleaning went great!
We're so proud of her too! Thank you for trusting Shadow Creek Pediatric Dentistry in Waukee with your daughter's dental care. We love helping kids feel confident at the dentist.
Honestly, our experience was really upsetting. Dr. Nancy Hammond seemed to rush through everything at our first visit and didn't listen to a thing I said. I specifically asked about extracting two loose baby teeth and refilling a filling that fell out. On the second visit, parents aren't allowed in the back during procedures. My 6-year-old came out and I found out she pulled a firmly rooted baby tooth and capped the tooth that needed the filling. It's just not okay. If you're looking for pediatric dental care in Waukee, be very careful.
We hear your concerns and take them seriously. At Shadow Creek Pediatric Dentistry in Waukee, we always aim to provide the best care for your child. We review treatment plans thoroughly and encourage questions. We're sorry this experience fell short and will use your feedback to improve our communication and procedures.
Excellent service! Roberto was super helpful, bilingual, and really patient with all my questions. Totally recommend this place for pediatric dentistry in Waukee.
Roberto truly loves his job and caring for our patients. Thanks for the shout-out and for choosing Shadow Creek Pediatric Dentistry in Waukee!
Friendly environment, great doctor and staff. They take really good care of my son's teeth. We're so glad we found this dentist in Waukee for his cavity prevention and checkups.
Thank you! We're happy to hear your son's visits go so well. At Shadow Creek Pediatric Dentistry in Waukee, we strive to make every child feel at ease. See you at his next cleaning!
We found this place through our insurance and filled out all the new patient forms online. They did X-rays and a cleaning, but when the doctor came in, she said, 'I don't know how you ended up here. I usually only see little kids.' Our son is 14. She gave us referrals and that was it. We drove all the way to Waukee for an acute issue and it was a waste of time. A heads-up about age limits would have saved us the hassle.
We're sorry for the frustration and inconvenience. At Shadow Creek Pediatric Dentistry in Waukee, we primarily focus on younger children, but we understand we should have clarified that during scheduling. We'll work on better communication to prevent this in the future.
Almost a couple of years ago, my daughters dentist referred her to this pediatric dentist for a filling. While the consultation appointment went well, I can not say the same for the 2nd appointment & the events after. To my surprise they said that parents cannot go back for the filling procedure. (they told me this there and gave me a paper before the filling appointment) I thought this was weird but agreed, as I thought they may have a good reason. However, the day of the filling, my daughter said she was very scared & that the dentist was rude. as a result she cried. I could tell something was wrong when she came out and I refused to schedule the 2nd filling appointment. (They alleged she needed 2 fillings & recommended separate appointments) I’m not a dentist, & I myself have a filling. When I saw my daughters I knew it didn’t look “right”. When I went back to her dentist, I explained what happened & that I refused to go back. They explained that she did not in fact need another filling as they said. Since that, pieces of that filling has continued to fall & my daughter complains of sensitivity. My daughter continues to go to her routine check ups & the most recent one (June 2024) they said and word for word “she may want to get that redone when she’s older. It looks funny.” Yesterday, a big piece fell out. Needless to say, I’m calling her dentist first thing in the morning.
Worst experience EVER. We waited an hour just to get back, had to fill out the same paperwork four times (twice for each kid), and it was total chaos. The worst part: Dr. Nancy Hammond performed a procedure on my 11-year-old without getting consent from her or me. When I complained, she said it's her practice and she can do what she wants because of the forms I signed. That's not how consent works. Absolutely unacceptable for pediatric dental care in Waukee.
We sincerely apologize for this experience. At Shadow Creek Pediatric Dentistry in Waukee, we take consent very seriously and are reviewing our procedures to ensure this doesn't happen again. We value your feedback and will work to improve.
My kids have been seen here a few times, but it doesn't always feel like a true pediatric dentist office. Some staff could be more patient with the little ones. But the real issue: they called to discharge my family because I didn't call ahead to reschedule an appointment I never got a reminder for. I have screenshots showing no messages. When I tried to explain, they said I confirmed a month ago—which I didn't. Really disappointing.
We're sorry for this miscommunication. At Shadow Creek Pediatric Dentistry in Waukee, we aim to keep families informed. We'll review our reminder system and policies to prevent this. Please contact us if you'd like to discuss further.
Dr. Hammond was very impatient with my autistic son. She seemed rushed and inconsiderate of his needs. During the cleaning, my son was crying and upset—he said the dentist was mean and kept yelling at him for things he couldn't help. He asked for me several times but they didn't get me until the end. This was traumatic and undid all the progress we made with previous dentists who took their time. If your child has anxiety or special needs, do NOT go here.
We are truly sorry for this experience. At Shadow Creek Pediatric Dentistry in Waukee, we are committed to providing compassionate care for all children, including those with special needs. We will review our approach and retrain our team to ensure every child feels safe and respected.
I didn't even make it to my son's appointment due to the absolute disrespect I encountered with the front desk staff. I called at the beginning of the year and didn't ever hear back I had to call multiple times before I finally got a text message back from them, not a phone call a text message, which I find very unprofessional. When they finally texted me to set up a time to see my son we agreed on a time and then a few days later when they sent the confirmation text it was a completely different time, which I had already made arrangements with my work to take of sometime and now I had to ask for more time due to them telling that the original time they told me wasn't an option now. Got that straightened out only to be called today with extreme rudness from the front desk gentlemen who was not willing to work with me nor even try to be nice to me! I am so glad my gut told me to call back and cancel my son's appointment as if you can't even be somewhat nice on the phone I can only imagine how you treat these poor kiddos behind closed doors! Would NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!!!
Wouldn't recommend if you want to be able to go back with your child or have nurses with skills to work with children. Was denied twice after insisting on going back with my nervous 6 year old. When I asked the nurse if she could explain to my daughter what they will be doing, she said and I quote " we will take you back, explain things to you, and then we will get it done." She had no patience (30 whole seconds) or sympathy. Seems very suspicious to not allow parents back in the appointment with their very young children. Such a bad experience! The front desk last was nice though.
Also check out their terrible cancelation policy. You've basically got one chance of canceling too late or no showing before they drop you and report you to insurance and the next place you choose to go.
My ten year old daughter had a cavity filled by them. I want to first say that the front desk staff is very helpful and kind. However, the office does not allow the parents to go back, which I originally thought there was good reasoning behind but my daughter later told me that the dentist was really mean to her and she was scared ☹️ She said that the dentist and her helper were talking to each other about their grandkids or something the entire time, did not comfort her when she was scared, and the dentist told my daughter to “shhh” at one point. My daughter told me that they were only nice to her at the end. We will not be going back.
The worst experience we have ever had. They traumatized my 2 year old for life. Strapped him down to clean his teeth. He has been going here for 2 years and this time it was the worst. She made him sit here for 10 min he was excited to get his teeth cleaned and he just waiting and waiting uncontrollably. She wasn’t ready she was on the computer. He was so excited and she kept trying to explain everything to him and he said ok I’m ready just do it 20 min of him just laying there. Of course any kid would not be patient that long. Never going here again, she was so rude telling my son to sit down and shut up. Don’t take your kids here folks the people are very rude and mean.
We experienced really rude staff at the pediatric dentist we called in our town to get our daughter a check up and teeth cleaning and they would not book us an appointment from what seemed to be discrimination against us. Spoke to a very soft spoken gentleman on the phone and got us in, hoping to have a good experience when we take our little one in! So far I’m pleased!
We have followed Dr.Hammond to Waukee to her brand new pediatric dental office and are so impressed with her new facility! It’s so kid friendly and of course offers the same quality of care she is known for.
The staff is friendly, as usual, and ready to make our experience easy and comfortable. My kids always look forward to seeing her! Thanks Shadow Creek, we’ll see you next time :)
The staff is very friendly and Dr. Hammond did a great job making sure that my child and I understood everything that would be taking place. They worked to get his appointment scheduled quickly. The building is welcoming and clean, and during the Covid pandemic they are taking extensive precautions to keep everyone safe.
I would definitely recommend SCPD to anyone needing a dentist for their child!
I honestly can’t say enough about Dr. Nancy Hammond and her staff. It is apparent by her kindness, compassion and knowledge that Dr. Hammond has 30+ years of experience and that is just one of the things that we love about her. We followed Dr. Hammond from a previous practice and have been her patients for 5 years. First with our oldest daughter and now with a 1 year old. They go above and beyond to make both our girls feel welcomed. They make us feel like family every single time we are there. They are so committed to our children’s care. When our daughter needed to have xrays, she was afraid but the staff quickly made her feel comfortable! The space is truly wonderful as well, our girls love all the colors and art displayed! During a time when everything is so uncertain, they take the appropriate precautions to keep everyone(staff, children and parents) safe. I highly recommend making an appointment if you are looking for a pediatric dentist.
We couldn’t be happier with the treatment by the staff and the work done for our child. They are always sooo polite and all about making your child comfortable and happy. It’s never easy for children to be introduced to a dentist but trust me this place will help your child build confidence and love to have their teeth worked on. We are so grateful to have found this place !
From the moment you walk in, you feel comfortable. The staff is friendly and listens to your concerns. Dr. Hammond takes time to explain treatment options. My son needed multiple treatments and got them all done the same day—he came out unfazed, no pain, not scared. Thank you Shadow Creek Pediatric Dentistry for giving my son a positive outlook on the dentist! We're in Waukee and this is the best pediatric dentist we've found.
Thank you for trusting us with your son's care! We're thrilled he had a great experience. At Shadow Creek Pediatric Dentistry in Waukee, we love helping kids feel good about their dental health. See you next time!
