Enjoyed my first visit at Smile Designs by Dr. Karen Cooper. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. The hygienist was very nice and thorough with walking me through my oral health and what she was seeing in my cleaning. She explained everything in a way I could understand from the x-rays to the dental plan. Dr. Cooper was very great with explaining and examining me. She made me feel at home and safe in her care. Overall loved my first experience here and will be back again!

I do not recommend this place. As a new patient, I tried scheduling online and never got a response. After weeks of waiting, I had to physically go in to make an appointment. On the day of my first visit, I was told my appointment had been canceled because the office had the wrong phone number on file. No call, no notice. At my next visit, I waited 30 minutes only to find out their CBCT machine was broken. The equipment looked ancient, rusted, and unreliable — I even had to hold it in place myself. The practice is very clean, modern, and welcoming. EVERY employee I had contact with was polite and kind. My hygienist, Grace, was fantastic and took her time to explain everything to me. Dr. Cooper was very thorough with her exam, listened to my questions, and made sure I understood. I will absolutely continue my care.
Y’all, I’m writing this because my friend is a patient here and doesn’t have the spine to speak up— but I sure do. Let me tell you, this place is a total disaster. It’s not clean, not sanitary, and honestly, it’s dangerous. Their assistants will dig through drawers with bare hands and then put things straight in patients’ mouths. The x-ray equipment is old and worn out. The trays they use for impressions? Dirty, plastic, and clearly meant for one-time use, but they reuse them anyway. Gloves? They only throw them away if they hit the floor. Absolutely disgusting. Now, the doctor… bless her heart.

I hope by writing this I save someone else from this place. I had an appointment at 1030am for a cleaning and x-ray. The hygienist I had was the only positive interaction I had. She explained things well and talked me through what she was doing. I already knew I probably had a cavity that needed a filling and I was right. The Dr. was looking at my teeth for maybe 5 seconds before telling the hygienist to go on with treatment plan and left. No explanation was given by the Dr. They said they could get me in same day for the filling and I agreed. which was my mistake. the cleaning and x-ray also took 2 hours which never has it taken more than an hour at previous dental offices. Anyway I waited for them to call me back for my filling for an hour. They made me pay in advance which again I've never done before. While in the procedure the Dr. said she needed to step out for a few minutes and the assistant was with me for a couple minutes before telling me "be right back" well I looked at my phone to check the time because I already didn't believe she would be back soon. Sure enough 20mins went by with the BITE BLOCK STILL IN MY MOUTH before I got up and found someone. I was almost in tears because my jaw hurt so bad. She helped me remove that as well as everything else they left inside my mouth. After an hour of waiting for her to "be right back" I got up once again to find out what was going on I had no idea were they done? Did they forget about me? Come to find out they left to do a crown in another room and had no intention on "being right back". At this point this is nothing but patient neglect. So if I didn't get up I would've had a bite block left in my mouth for an hour plus all the time I was in the procedure. When the Dr. and assistant came back not one apology. They didn't speak a word to me and I never felt like such a $ on a table before. At the end the Dr. didn't ask me anything about how my mouth felt let alone my jaw. She rushed out of that room so fast. When I went to leave the office I had asked for compensation which I was told I could wait for the Dr. At this point it was 430pm. I spent the entire day in that office I wasn't about to sit and wait again. She said the Dr. would give me a call and to "have a great day". The day was over at that point and I never received a call from the Dr. about this experience. The only apology I got was from the person who helped me get the bite block out and it had nothing to do with the procedure. I have never in my life had a traumatic dental experience until this visit. This Dr. neglects her patients and does not care. This is not her first time doing this as I have found another previous patient of hers that had a similar experience. I hope nobody ever has to go through what I did.
The staff are very nice and helpful, you're treated like a good friend. Very clean. Dr. Karen is very knowledgeable and is current on her information. She explains things so you understand what's being done, how it's done and the results you can expect. The bonus, best thing is, She is a Christian. You can tell when you see her. Her light shines!!! We just moved to Savannah and I was looking for a new dental clinic. I scheduled an appointment for this office for the initial consultation. This was I believe a month or so ago. I work full time, the same hours as the clinic, with no long access to phones the whole day and I only just started having 1 weekday off 2 weeks ago, the first one was last week and it was a Wednesday and this clinic is closed on Wednesday. A different person called me (I was set this expectation) and asked for my information over the phone, only to direct me to a website to fill out a form with the same information

I have been a consistent patient of Dr.Cooper for about a decade now and she was always made me feel comfortable and brightened my smile, literally! Her service is always impeccable and she makes me excited to come to my follow up appointments.
This is the most unreliable dental office in town. My first appt my cleaning was on time and the tech was wonderful, however, I waited over 2 hours for Dr Cooper to come to the room afterwords to check my teeth for maybe 30 seconds and then left. Then today I show up for my appointment (Tuesday morning) the doors are locked and nobody is there and nobody will answer the phone. Nobody ever answers the phone anyway, unless they are calling to remind you about your appointments which they did last week. They also charge a fee for missed appointments which I will certainly not be paying. I was not notified of the office being closed at all. I am very unhappy with their service.
Moved to Savannah 2 years ago from Minneapolis and am glad I found Dr. Cooper for my dental needs. Very thorough and easy to communicate with. Also, Claudia's assistance has added to the overall experience. She's always smiling (behind the mask 😷) and has a great attitude with patients. I recommend Dr. Cooper to everyone!

I enjoyed my experience at Smile Designs by Dr. Cooper and her staff. The moment I walked in they were very kind and made sure I had my new patient information packet ready. They were training a new tech, and the way he (I didn’t get his name, apologies) spoke to her with such care and understanding, walking her through what he was doing, etc. was heartwarming. In the midst of training her, he took very good care of me during the xray and explained exactly what he was doing. I was then moved to Padra (I hope I spelled her name right), but she was an amazing hygienist. She was very gentle but I felt the cleaning on my teeth with every step. She walked me through every step and she was very relatable. She was kind and even gave the impression that she does things with excellence and I felt that.
Finally, Dr. Cooper came in the room and I enjoyed her visit. We chatted about things and she made me feel like more than a patient. As an HR professional, I pay attention to how a company is ran and how someone treats their staff. When she was checking my teeth, ultimately confirming the work of Padra or suggesting additional work, her final words to Padra was “Great Job, Padra”. That was a sign to me that she values the work her team does and she congratulates them immediately. A leader at its finest.
Overall, I’m a patient as long as I’m in Savannah, and I will definitely be referring. Thank you, Dr. Cooper and staff!
