Worst experience ever with a business, let alone a dentist. They cancel appointments day of or day before, messed up dental work, shaved teeth and gave fillings based on willy-nilly feelings, and botched important procedures. The only reason you'd go here is because they hire every local dentist to monopolize the area, or insurance issues. If you can go elsewhere, PLEASE do. Nightmare.
We're truly sorry for your experience at Somerset Dental Associates in Johnstown. This is not the standard of care we aim to provide. We take your feedback seriously and will investigate the issues you mentioned regarding scheduling and treatment quality. Please contact our office directly so we can address your concerns personally.
We started at Somerset Dental Associates in Johnstown, PA, after a treatment plan for a few teeth. But when we got to the Somerset office, they said there were more problem teeth and suggested root canals or pulling all baby teeth—without taking new X-rays. I asked for updated imaging before agreeing to that, and they refused. Felt really unsafe, honestly. Not a good experience with general dentistry there.
We're sorry to hear about your experience at Somerset Dental Associates in Johnstown. Patient safety is our top priority, and we always aim to explain our recommendations clearly. We'll review our protocols regarding X-rays and communication to ensure this doesn't happen again. Please reach out if you'd like to discuss further.
Been going to Somerset Dental for 10 years, started at the Somerset location and now Johnstown. The doctors are excellent, but the staff has really gone downhill. Miscommunication, rescheduling appointments without telling us—it's a pain. We plan our day around the appointment time, and when they don't communicate between offices, it's frustrating. They know it's a problem but haven't fixed it.
Thank you for your long-time loyalty to Somerset Dental Associates in Johnstown. We're glad you appreciate our doctors, but sorry about the staff communication issues. We're working on improving coordination between our locations to provide better service. Please give us another chance—we'd love to make it right.
Reese did great helping me with my children's first appointments at Somerset Dental in Johnstown. She made the experience smooth and easy. Thanks, Reese!
Thanks for the shout-out! Reese is awesome, and we're glad she made your kids' first appointments at Somerset Dental Associates in Johnstown a success. We look forward to seeing your family again for future dental checkups!
I love this dentist office in Johnstown! They took great care of my daughter, explained everything so she wouldn't be scared. Thank you! You all are amazing.
Thank you! We're so happy your daughter felt comfortable at Somerset Dental Associates in Johnstown. Our team loves making dental visits positive for kids. Hope to see you again soon!
The dentist had an attitude and was rude. He said my child had a bunch of cavities and needed a lot of work, including being put to sleep. I took her to other dentists, and they said only 2 teeth needed work, no sedation necessary. Felt like they were pushing unnecessary treatment.
We're sorry for your experience at Somerset Dental Associates in Johnstown. We aim to provide honest, conservative treatment recommendations. We'll review our diagnostic process to ensure we're not over-recommending. Please contact us if you'd like to discuss your child's care further.
The dentist here had a very nasty and dismissive attitude I wanted to make sure all procedures recommended for my child was medically necessary. She got upset and told my daughter to drink the meds take this paper and go. Didn’t want to help me understand all the needed to be done and why.
Sierra and Dr. Colledge were wonderful with my 5 and 3 year olds at Somerset Dental Associates in Johnstown. They were patient, kind, professional, and explained every step. Highly recommend for pediatric dentistry!
Thanks so much for the kind words! We're thrilled Sierra and Dr. Colledge made your kids feel comfortable at Somerset Dental Associates in Johnstown. Pediatric dentistry is our passion, and we love hearing when families have a great experience. Hope to see you again for future checkups!
My 5-year-old son has autism, and brushing his teeth is a challenge. I was so nervous about taking him to the dentist in Johnstown. Everyone was patient and kind! Becky, our hygienist, was so sweet. She let him use her instruments on his toy first, then helped him do his own teeth. She never got frustrated and made it fun for him. Couldn't be happier with the pediatric dentistry care!
Thank you for sharing! We're so glad Becky and the team at Somerset Dental Associates in Johnstown made your son's visit a positive one. We love accommodating kids with special needs in pediatric dentistry. Looking forward to seeing you both again!
Don't recommend. Wait for appointments, even routine cleanings, is at least 9 months. Good luck if you need to reschedule. Nothing special about them as a pediatric dentist. Find a local dentist in Johnstown that actually cares and forms a relationship with your kids—somewhere with friendly faces, not a revolving door of unfriendly staff.
We appreciate your feedback about Somerset Dental Associates in Johnstown. We're sorry for the long wait times and impersonal feel. We're working to improve scheduling and staff consistency to better serve our pediatric patients. Thank you for helping us identify areas to grow.
My daughter had an appointment since January. The day before, they called to confirm. I pulled her from school and rearranged my work schedule. We showed up, and the front desk said they tried calling numerous times. Her appointment was at 1:40, and I had one missed call at 1:27. When I called her out, she said 'oh well, she works from home.' Unprofessional. Don't do that to people.
We apologize for the scheduling mix-up at Somerset Dental Associates in Johnstown. That's not the level of professionalism we expect. We'll retrain our front desk team on communication protocols to prevent this. Please contact us so we can reschedule your daughter's appointment and make it right.
If you have a child with nerves or dental anxiety avoid this place completely! We were outright told that it doesn't matter if the child has dental anxiety and needs a parent the Dr doesn't like parents in the backroom. It shouldn't matter a bit what the Dr likes the needs of the child patient should come first! Absolutely horrendous. Between this and waiting almost a year for appointments I strongly suggest that you do your best to find a different dental office!
Waited almost a year for my daughter’s dental surgery and they canceled it within 24 hours of the day. Now say they can’t get her in for another 9 months. So almost 2 years for her dental work IF they don’t cancel this next one. They do a great job if they don’t cancel on you.
Utterly ridiculous.. u book a surgical dental appt for a 6 yr old at 1230.. and ur told nothing after midnight the night before... ( which in and of itself is a hard task)... then u get to the appt and and hour and a half passes ur appt time... how long do u think it's appropriate to withhold food and water ?.. why .are an appt so late for a child?.. y make an appt at all if ur nit gonna keep it?.. but if ur late for an appt??? Oh Good lord!..
Ridiculous place...
We tried them once. They rescheduled one of our girls’ cleanings (seven months out) while keeping the other without telling us. We just happened to find out when they called to confirm the ONE appointment. Then they said I called and did this, which I know I didn’t. (They aren’t easy to get into, so I do not reschedule). To give props, the secretary did call me back and apologize for doing this and fit my other daughter back in the schedule.
My oldest never had cavities before, but they said she had a bunch. We decided to get a second opinion, to which we needed the x-rays. I called, and they said I could only pick them up, to come and they would have them ready. I drove the 20 minutes, and the office was closed, even though the door sign hours said they should be open. I called the next day, and this rep said I could get them electronically. Just weird and wouldn’t recommend them at all. Even when getting the cleaning, the staff was irritated and not very friendly. I just thought maybe it was because they had to make room for my daughter that they rescheduled.
Not good. My 5 year old daughter was uncomfortable and they wanted to put her to sleep for a cavity or have us pay so much just to have it fixed. We got a second opinion and her cavity was not as bad as they had made it out to be and definitely didn’t need to be under for the procedure. Not going back.
Please do not use this dentist. My children had been going there for years now but recently it's impossible to make an appointment. Appointments were canceled. Treatment plans were changed. I was not able to be involved in treatment plans for my son. They insisted that no one can go back with him to his appointment. They did not care about parental concerns of safety and security. Put your kids first and advocate for your children at all times.
I took my autistic 4 year old here and had an amazing experience. Typically doctors offices of any kind are difficult and stressful but they made the visit the smoothest process. Better yet no meltdowns! The staff was extremely kind as well.
My 3 year old had an awesome experience! The staff was extremely nice! The Dentist made the checkup and the teeth cleaning such a fun filled experience! We are definitely delighted to have Somerset Dental as our pediatric dentist.
I’ve always loved coming here always so welcoming and caring but today I bring my 8 year old son in to get a tooth pulled and cavity filled. They gave him Novocain and he started crying and screamed ( he never had Novocain before) and the dentist said this is absolutely unacceptable you can not do that you are going to scare the other patients!! I am so upset that they talked to my child this way he is 8 years old and never had a shot in his mouth so of course he’s going to scream!! Worst patient care ever!!!
