My experience at Spencer Dental & Braces in Roanoke, VA went really well. The lady who took me back was kind and considerate, constantly asking if I was okay, which I appreciated. The dentist who extracted 5 of my teeth was good too—he came in, did his job quickly, and it was over faster than I thought. Never had teeth pulled before, so I didn't know what to expect, but I'm so glad to get that tooth pain out. Overall, a very good experience with their emergency services.

Honestly, I'm really disappointed with how things have gone at Spencer Dental & Braces in Roanoke, VA. They keep canceling appointments without telling us—we've shown up multiple times for my kids' appointments and mine, only to find out they were canceled. Been waiting 9 months for a checkup and fillings, and now that's canceled too. We've been there at least 5 times. The doctor says he's only ever had one patient with EDS, but he's treating three in our family and forgets it every time. Just frustrating.

Spencer Dental & Braces in Roanoke, VA is a very unorganized mess—they overbook and have no sense of time management. Took over an hour after my appointment time to get seen. Won't be using this dentist office again or recommending it to anyone with Tricare in this area. I'd suggest reaching out to places in Salem or Boutetout instead. I would not recommend this dental office. My children have had teeth removed because they weren’t able to get on a timely treatment plan. Appointments are scheduled months out, even for emergencies, and they frequently cancel or change your appointment without informing you. When you do come in, be prepared to wait four to five hours.
The office has consistently been unprofessional. I waited over a year for a cleaning for myself, only for it to be canceled. Recently, they scheduled me on a Saturday when the office wasn’t open, leaving me standing in the cold without a call. Overall, this is by far the worst dental experience I’ve had.

Spencer Dental & Braces in Roanoke, VA confirmed and then canceled my appointments twice. When I showed up for my 1pm appointment, I wasn't on the schedule—they'd moved it again without telling me. They put me back on for 1pm, but I wasn't called until 2:25pm, then left waiting in the chair for another 30 minutes. Spent 2.5 hours there just to get 2 x-rays that took 10 minutes. This place is awful for dental checkups! The workers and dentist were nice, though.

Dr. Perry was Amazing. It took him 10 mins to numb and pull my abcessed tooth. I am a ball of nerves when it comes to my mouth but he was amazing, told me a joke as he was messing with it and the joke was over by the time he pulled it. I am grateful for him. Thank you sir. I will be back for fillings as long as you are doing them.

This office schedules too many people at the same time. We have drove over an hour on multiple occasions only to have to be rescheduled. This last appointment we have waited so far 2 hours and still waiting to have 1 filling filled. Definitely need more options for kids dentist that accepts Medicaid in the area.

Giving 5 stars to Spencer Dental & Braces in Roanoke, VA not because it's perfect, but because MOST of the staff was incredibly helpful and kind. Even with how busy they were, all the bad attitudes from patients, and being short-staffed, they got me through a really rough extraction. Read the other reviews, and I can say semi-confidently that most terrible reviews aren't the staff's fault—some people just need to grow up. It's a dental office; no one wants to be there. The literal worst place to take anybody to. They have canceled every apt of mine since April! There's never a dr available. Filed a customer complaint was supposed to have heard back from them within 72 hrs and it's been over a week. They will blow it phone up for u to make an appointment, so you make the appointment. And they cancel and hr before the time you are supposed to be there and then blow you up again for you to reschedule just for them to continue to cancel. 10/10 HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND

So glad I found Spencer Dental & Braces in Roanoke, VA! The workers here are super caring, and I totally recommend this place. They got me a quick appointment, evaluated my teeth situation effectively, and the sweet dentist came up with two plans—one as a backup if my insurance doesn't cover crowns. Unlike that Altavista Dentist in Altavista, VA, who laughed and made fun of my teeth, this dentist won't scare you or try to make more money off you. Haven't been back to them since that day, but I'm sticking with Spencer Dental.

I made an appointment 3 months ago to get my 3 young children’s teeth cleaned. I showed up 20 minutes before their appointment time to make sure I had enough time to fill out paperwork (a digital link was provided by the office but it did not work). I waited 1 hour, 20 minutes and then asked the front desk how much longer the wait would be. They informed me they were unable to verify insurance for 2 of my children and that all of their appointments would need to be rescheduled. All 3 children are on the same insurance policy. The office staff was unapologetic (except Gabby who did attempt to help me reschedule). Overall a very frustrating, unprofessional experience. I would not recommend this office and will not be returning.

The staff are ridiculously rude, aired out my business to the entire lobby, extremely judgmental. have cancelled my appointments the past 4 times they've been made, and overall created an uncomfortable environment for me to be in. It's worth noting that I was as respectful as possible toward the staff and they were still absolute jerks toward me the entire time. I'm 16 and hadn't had dental work done in forever, and they disappointed my hope at a good experience.

This office should absolutely be ASHAMED of itself. It shouldn't even be allowed to be open. The fact that they cancel appointments left and right, the office staff doesn't show up, they don't notify patients or parents of cancellations half the time in a timely manner. I made an emergency appointment 2 weeks ago. Confirmed it 3 days ago. Got a confirmation this morning saying that my appointment was today and then an hour later I got to cancellation and the office said that they had things to do tomorrow so that they couldn't do my appointment today. It was an emergency appointment and the fact that they even booked it 2 weeks out being an emergency is absolutely ridiculous. Even the man from the on call center and the on-call emergency dentists confused by what this office is doing. This dentist office just needs to be closed down. I mean it's absolutely disgraceful and disrespectful. This office does not care about their patient's or anything else.

I would like to kindly share some feedback about my recent visit. My appointment was scheduled for 2:30, but my children’s check-up was delayed for quite some time. This made the visit much longer than expected.
Also, I noticed that the nurse, Joselyn, seemed to have some difficulty managing the process efficiently. I understand that clinics can be very busy, but I would really appreciate more timely service in future visits.

The staff is courteous, and the dentists are pretty friendly. My only complaint is about the wait time and appointments. You get attention at least half an hour after the appointment time. The other most inconvenient thing is that they DON'T finish the treatment. I have been to the clinic almost 3+ times, and they still haven't completed my fillings. I live pretty far from the clinic, so going back and forth is a bit more than just an inconvenience.
Updated: I had given 3 stars to this place, but I have been forced to change it as my appointment has been canceled THREE times without any call or explanation. If you can help it, AVOID this place.

Yesterday at Spencer Dental & Braces in Roanoke, VA, I was supposed to have teeth pulled, but it was agonizing. The numbing injections and laughing gas didn't help—I was crying and screaming from the pain. I tried tapping the dentist and assistant's arms and waving my hands, but they told me to stop screaming aggressively. They numbed a bit more but only pulled the first tooth partway before the dentist got an attitude, threw his hands up, stormed out, and said he wasn't going to finish. Worst oral surgery experience ever.

Rescheduled for the next afternoon, but they were really behind—we were there about 3 hours for a cleaning.
