Called to make an appointment at this dental clinic in Staten Island and was asked about insurance. When I said I don't have any, they told me I needed insurance or had to contact another department for financial assistance first. Honestly, it made no sense to me why that would stop a visit, especially since I fell and lost two teeth and just didn't want to wait. Ended up looking for a private practice instead. Just didn't feel helpful at all.
Owner Response

Got there right at 8am when they open and it was already packed here in Staten Island, NY. Honestly, maybe showing up even earlier would help with the wait, but it wasn't a bad experience at all. The front desk folks were super helpful getting everyone signed in quickly, which I really appreciated. Dr. Yasmin Ludianski and Cassandra Saxon were so sweet with my 5-year-old during his tooth extraction. Couldn't believe how fast we were in and out for emergency dental care.
Owner Response
Thanks for bringing your son in for his tooth extraction. We're glad Dr. Yasmin and Cassandra provided such supportive pediatric dentistry here at Staten Island University Hospital Dental Care Center in Staten Island, NY. Hope to see you both again soon!

Forgot to write down my tooth extraction appointment here in Staten Island. When I asked when it was, they said I had no appointment, then called back and said I missed it. Every time I try to make a new one, they're always booked solid. My insurance only covers this place in all of Staten Island, so now I have to wait two weeks just to schedule something for March. DO BETTER!
Owner Response
We apologize for the confusion with your tooth extraction appointment scheduling. At Staten Island University Hospital Dental Care Center in Staten Island, NY, we're addressing our booking system to improve access. Please call our office directly so we can help you get the emergency dental care you need.

I go to the Staten Island University Hospital Dental Unit and see Dr. Rebecca. She's been wonderful and so compassionate with what I've been dealing with regarding my dentures—not because of the Dental Unit, but my mouth adjusting to new dentures. Her professionalism here in Staten Island, NY has been really helpful and rewarding since I started coming. She has a great personality and is extremely courteous during my routine checkups.
Owner Response
Thanks for your kind words about Dr. Rebecca and your routine checkups. We're glad she's provided such compassionate care at Staten Island University Hospital Dental Care Center in Staten Island, NY. We appreciate you choosing us for your dental needs!

Seriously love the service at Staten Island University Hospital's dental clinic. My son Mason was seen on 10/17/2025 and 10/20/2025, and everyone showed him so much TLC. Wanted to give a special shout-out to Dr. Firoozeh Shekari, Tasia, Lorraine, Dr. Yasmin Ludianski, Dr. Lisa Schneider, Cassandra, and Jeromy. We've been back a few more times too, on 12/4/2025 and 12/9/2025. Honestly, the pediatric dentistry here in Staten Island, NY has been amazing for his routine checkups.
Owner Response
Thanks so much for bringing Mason in for his pediatric dentistry visits. We're thrilled our team provided such great care at Staten Island University Hospital Dental Care Center in Staten Island, NY. Looking forward to seeing you both again!

As a single dad of five kids aged 10-17 in Staten Island, your availability is really tough. I try to schedule appointments around doctors, dental visits, school, and their sports, so mornings or late nights like 10pm work best for me. But depending on what you need, you might not get those times. Feels like you're conforming more to your workers' needs than patients'. A dentist who's never available in the morning shouldn't be in this field, honestly.
Owner Response

These doctors overbook themselves on purpose here in Staten Island, NY. They don't respect your time at all, only their wallets. Made us wait for hours and we missed other appointments. My baby was crying for a whole hour in the waiting room. How am I supposed to sit here when they agreed to a set time? Disgusting lack of professionalism for pediatric dentistry.
Owner Response
We're truly sorry your baby had to wait so long for pediatric dentistry. At Staten Island University Hospital Dental Care Center in Staten Island, NY, we're reviewing our scheduling to prevent overbooking and better respect patients' time. We hope you'll give us another chance.

Worst experience ever at this Staten Island dental clinic! Can't even make an appointment in person. They tell you to keep calling until you get through. They say it's a walk-in clinic but don't actually accept walk-ins unless you line up at 7am and are one of the lucky ten people seen. Hate this place. Never get through to anyone. They don't care about your pain for emergency dental care.
Owner Response
We apologize for the frustration with our appointment system. At Staten Island University Hospital Dental Care Center in Staten Island, NY, we're working to clarify our walk-in policies and improve phone access for emergency dental care. Please reach out to our manager to discuss your concerns.

Waited 6.5 hrs for them to tell me I need to do a dental cleaning and that I have to wait 3 weeks to make an appointment for a chance to have an appointment without opening my mouth once. 0 empathy or logics. The dental assistant asked me if I want to deal with the wisdom tooth first or the abscessed gum….and this is based on my assumption. Apparently I have to wait for preauthorization for my wisdom tooth removal. Mind you, got my mouth checked, from 5 ft away for one second. I’m pretty sure an abscessed mouth is an emergency that needs to be taken care of immediately and not to be seen till maybe….if I’m lucky….6 weeks in a general checkup. Avoid unless you like to be a statistic for low income dental related sepsis shock.

Came in this morning at 7:45am as a walk-in emergency here in Staten Island. Been sitting waiting for 6½ hours now and I'm livid. They don't prioritize emergencies—just mix you in with people who have appointments. The woman on the phone was sweet but didn't explain the wait would be this long. Highly upset with the lack of urgency from the staff. Haven't seen any doctor or been examined yet, been here their whole shift after checking in.
Owner Response
We sincerely apologize for the extensive wait you experienced for emergency dental care. At Staten Island University Hospital Dental Care Center in Staten Island, NY, we're reviewing our triage process to better prioritize urgent cases. Please contact our office so we can address this directly.

This place clearly has no standards at all for who they hire. Its actually insulting that they would consider themselves medical professionals. I have never in my life seen such terrible care, disrespectful behavior and complete lack of decency all in the one place. I would give it zero stars if I could. Disgusting.

Was there this past Friday in Staten Island, NY and was absolutely appalled at the lack of professionalism. While waiting, heard loud cursing and laughing, with these "professionals" ignoring their jobs. How they have their jobs, I'll never understand. The only person trying her best was the Latina woman at the front desk helping with my appointment—wish I got her name, she was wonderful. Honestly never seen such disgusting behavior from medical "professionals." Will never go back.
Owner Response
We're deeply concerned to hear about your experience with unprofessional behavior. At Staten Island University Hospital Dental Care Center in Staten Island, NY, we take this seriously and are addressing it with our team. Thank you for acknowledging our front desk staff's efforts with appointment scheduling.

Attendings do not work on you, residents do (people in school learning dentistry). They tell you either we can pull your tooth for free or it costs $ 2,500.00 or more. Not having the money caused me to have multiple teeth pulled out. There was a Resident pulling out my tooth without the attending watching and the attending told the resident he pulled the wrong tooth. I overheard from a Resident if they worked fast they get brownie points. I had one resident stab me with a needle multiple times aggressively, that I had to call later to complain. They told me I had 10 or 13 cavities and when I took my X-rays to another dentist they told me I had only 3 or 4. If you don't show up at least an hour before it opens you are bombarded with many patients and may not get out till late afternoon. It took one resident so long to pull a tooth out once and I was profusely bleeding. Now I have barely any upper teeth, that I need a partial or dentures. NEVER AGAIN

Sorry, I don't even want to give one star. They don't have proper planning. It says to walk in in an emergency. They only take 10 emergency patients per day. I went there today as an emergency patient and my no was 3. I went there at 6.30 waited at the main lobby till 7 got the no and sat there till 7.50 and went to the Dental department at 8 am. They have patients with appointments and they are a priority. People go there for emergencies because it's an emergency not to hangaround. If they only treat 10 emergency patients per day they should reserve daily time for them. They took me at 11.21 am. I finished my treatment at 12.05 and then waited till 12.20 to get my prescription and next appointment. I witness that one Patients waited there 01 and half hour after his treatment because his doctor ask him to wait and the front office team didn't know about it.

One of the best experiences I have ever had with a dentist……Dr Ummia Zaman is amazing at what she does.. she is kind and sweet. She listens to her patients and understands there problems… I went in scared and in immense pain she took care of me immediately and resolved my pain…. Felt respected and appreciated as a patient… she worked gentle and quickly to solve my problems… gave me advice when I asked if she would recommend this treatment. If you are looking for a good dentist then I highly recommend her ….

I’ve been told so many lies by northwell, and whoever is supposed to be updating profiles isn’t doing their job. I’ve came to them several times to get my tooth looked at because i literally can’t even feel my left side of my face, and they just tell me keep coming back. Come back when I’m dead from tooth infections? Like seriously. They never follow up, they never lyk your appointment date am i supposed to just know when I have to come back if no one tells me nothing? They actually are the worst dentist ever. All those ladies do is talk talk talk about nonsense instead of doing their jobs.
