We've been going to Tate Family Dentistry in Roanoke for teeth cleanings for a couple years, covered by Delta insurance. At our last visit, we got a bill for over $120 with no warning—turns out they don't take Delta anymore. The office reduced it by 50%, which helped, but it would've been nice to know beforehand so we could've found another dentist in VA that accepts our insurance. Update: got a call apologizing for the lack of notice and they issued a reimbursement, which was appreciated.

Honestly, I don't usually write reviews, but folks in Roanoke should know what happened. I had some cavities and went to Tate Family Dentistry for fillings. Dr. Tate said they'd last a long time, but honestly, by the time I got home, two of them had already failed. Now I've got cracks, sharp pain, and exposed roots that make eating and drinking really tough. I didn't have any of these issues before the restorative dentistry work. It's been a rough experience.

Went to Tate Family Dentistry in Roanoke hoping to find a reliable dentist for regular cleanings and to fix a chipped tooth. The hygienist was lovely, but when Dr. Tate worked on my chipped tooth, he didn't explain anything and called me 'annoying' when I asked questions. The work cracked slightly before I even got home. Won't be returning for cosmetic dentistry or anything else here in VA.

I've been hesitant to post this, but thinking back to my first visit with Dr. Tate in Roanoke upsets me. I came with dental issues and mentioned my severe depression, but felt judged and ignored. Went back, he ground my gum away saying it'd grow back—months later in VA, it hasn't. Avoided dentists due to shame, and this didn't help with restorative dentistry or anything else.

I live 30-40 minutes away from Dr. Tate's office in Roanoke and tried finding a closer dentist. Called one nearby, but the receptionist kept questioning my accent and insurance, even though I confirmed I had it. Decided to stick with Tate Family Dentistry—their receptionist is kind and worth the drive. Communication issues elsewhere made me appreciate this place more for dental care in VA.

This is the best dentist i have ever been to or dealt with. Dr.Tate takes time & care. I have been coming here for years. The staff here are excellent. Leah that works in front also takes time & helps with explaining billing, she is great! They all do a wonderful job. I highly recommend this dentist & always refer family & friends.!!
I was referred by a co-worker recently who had a pleasant experience with Tate Family Dentistry. The receptionist was nice while booking my appointment and going over all information thoroughly by phone and face-to-face. Brittany is really friendly and talked to me while preparing me for my procedure which calmed my nerves. Dr. Tate took time to explain the work he would be doing. He is also nice and very patient. Tate Family Dentistry is the best! The staff is super friendly and Dr. Tate is personable, friendly, knowledgeable, and thorough! I’ve seen several of the dental hygienists and have no complaints about any of them- they’ve all been great! Most recently I’ve been seeing Jordan and she is fantastic! Tate Family Dentistry is wonderful. Dr Tate is very knowledgeable and caring. Chris, the hygientis is great. She takes pride in her work, explains what she is doing and anything you can do to better care for your teeth. She is very friendly and puts you at ease. I highly recommend them.
Very accommodating for my schedule. Can’t really rate the doctors but the dental hygienists on staff are very well qualified, confident in their abilities, meticulous and sensitive to patient comfort. Billing staff are also top notch, helping with insurance and ease of copay.
