I came in for a cavity filling but ended up with a whole mouth of work that felt unnecessary. At the next visit, there was a new problem, so I left. A different dentist saw no issues—just watch spots that never became cavities. Now, over a year later, my daughter has an abscess from a crown Dr. Joel placed, and the fillings are inadequate (visible on X-rays). Do yourself a favor and get a second opinion before any major work.

Amazing experience! We came in for a tongue-tie and lip-tie release on our two-month-old. Everything was smooth and organized. Dr. Joel answered all my questions and even called the next day to check in—on a holiday! The procedure made a huge difference for her. We absolutely love going to see Dr. Joel! Laura is amazing with our boys—she even remembered our son loves Monster Jam from his cleaning six months ago and had it playing! Honestly, this dentist in Westerville is AMAZING! Dr. Joel made my kiddo feel right at home with toys, a bubble wand when he walked in, and a cartoon playing on the ceiling TV. The hygienist (I forget her name) was genuinely excited to see my child and kept him smiling and laughing through the whole pediatric dental cleaning. I'd give them 10 stars if I could! Keep it up, you're the bestest!

My child is super introverted, but the play area helped her relax before her first visit. We got there early so she could enjoy it, and they were actually on time—something rare these days! I brought my 14-week-old in for a tongue-tie, lip-tie, and cheek-tie release after a lactation consultant recommended it due to bottle refusal. Dr. Joel was amazing—he confirmed the ties and did the procedure the same day. He even came in with a Mickey Mouse bubble wand! He took time to listen and explain everything. My baby is now taking a bottle 4 weeks later, and she started babbling the next day. So glad we found him in Westerville for pediatric dental care!

We had a fantastic first visit at Westerville Pediatric Dental! The staff were kind, skilled, knowledgeable, and professional. My kids had a great cleaning by Laura- she is patient and wonderful with kids! Dr. Joel is hilarious and greeted my kids with a bubble wand. We had an amazing experience with Dr. Joel and his team! Dr. Joel was able to release our daughter’s lip and tongue tie the same day as our consultation. The procedure itself was fast and he provided us with all the appropriate knowledge prior to and how to care for her upon leaving. We started to see improvements in her temperament and eating that same day! Very professional all around. We have nothing but wonderful things to say about Dr. Joel and his staff. Immediately entering the office, we were met with a clean and cozy atmosphere and friendly staff. We were quick to be checked in for our visit, which was a consultation for our newborn (tongue and lip tie). Taken to a beautiful suite for our consult, everything was explained thoroughly and any questions answered. After review by Dr. Joel, it was determined that a release of both lip and tongue were recommended. They offered same day treatment for that which was great since we are over an hour away from home. The release took seconds and when we entered the suite again, it was so reassuring to see that Dr. Joel was already offering comfort to our crying babe by swaying and shushing. After the revision, we were able to stay in the suite as long as we needed to feed and comfort our baby. Complete with a comfortable rocking chair and changing table. I think it’s so important that in any office setting you are met with people who you automatically feel comfortable with and trust. That is exactly was this office offered. Highly recommended!

I have nothing but great things to say about this office! From the moment you walk in, the front desk staff is incredibly welcoming. Dr. Joel is an outstanding communicator—he’s clear, transparent, and always makes you feel comfortable.
Growing up, I was a patient here and had multiple cleanings and fillings done. I was always informed about exactly what was going on. They take the time to show you your X-rays and provide helpful, easy-to-understand pamphlets on how to prevent cavities or address other tooth conditions your child may have, which I found extremely beneficial.
As a current student at OSU with aspirations of becoming a dentist, I’ve been fortunate that Dr. Joel has graciously welcomed me into his office multiple times. He’s given me the rare opportunity to observe, ask questions, and gain real-world insight into the field of dentistry. From being on the flip side and shadowing the team, I’ve seen firsthand how the office operates. The staff genuinely puts patients first, every decision they make is centered around ensuring patients and their families have a positive, comfortable experience. It’s been an awesome experience that I truly appreciate!

We had such a great experience with Dr. Joel and crew yesterday at our daughter's appointment. Everyone was so nice and informative! She can’t wait for her next 6 month appointment.
I am not one to leave reviews but I must leave a review for Dr. Joel and his wonderful office staff. Last year Dr. Joel did my daughter lip/tongue tie revision when she was a baby and I was very impressed with him and his office. Fast forward my daughter and her twin brother are now 20 months and I decided to returned back to Dr. Joel office for my twins first dental appointment. We no longer live in the area but I was willing to drive 40 minutes to see him and it was worth the drive!
Dr. Joel and his staff were absolutely amazing with my 1 year old twins. When we first arrived they received balloons to play with and also got to play with bubbles. They both did so well on exam and cleaning, I was actually very impressed! We will definitely be back in 6 months for our next cleaning.
I would highly recommend their office to anyone looking for a pediatric dentist and also would highly recommend Dr. Joel for lip/tongue tie revisions!

We love Dr Joel and his staff! From when we enter the lobby until we leave, we are treated so well. Dr Joel is so friendly and knowledgeable. My kids are horribly anxious about seeing a dentist, but Dr Joel and his staff put them at ease by explaining everything and being very gentle. The bubbles and the prizes are an added bonus 😊

I called the dental office for my 4yr old daughter’s first visit/cleaning and the receptionist offered me a canceled appointment slot for the following day, I gladly accepted. We walked into a beautiful office—clean, inviting, and child centered. The office has the cutest tree house, my daughter was so excited play in it. Since we had filled out our initial paperwork beforehand there was no wait time, we were taken to an area by Molly the dental hygienist whom was absolutely wonderful! Molly walked my daughter through every step, showed her every tool she would be using during the process, so there were no surprises; she made my daughter feel comfortable and safe. After the cleaning, Dr Joel Richards walked in with his bubble blaster, he was loads of fun, he did his assessment of my kiddos teeth and gave us some information on how to continue good oral health at home. It was such a wonderful visit, I highly recommend this place for anyone that is experiencing some dental anxiety or trauma from previous bad experiences. This place will definitely make you want to visit the dentist more often.
