Honestly, this place was just disgusting. I went in for an abscess tooth while on vacation in New Orleans. Dr. Ambrose insisted on two root canals and never even looked in my mouth once. I kept asking if I could fly safely after the procedure, and he just kept insisting it's the only option with no real explanation. Spent two hours there, only talked to him for maybe 20 minutes total. I had to beg for antibiotics and pain meds, and he finally prescribed them after being really rude about it. Then I went to the restroom—it was disgustingly dirty. The tools looked sketchy too. Avoid this emergency dental service if you can.

Called for help to get dentek crown filler removed from a hole in my tooth. They told me they couldn't help unless I pay $175 plus another $175 for an x-ray. Total POS.

I can't believe this man is still working. Went to him when I was 20, now I'm 45 and still dealing with the trauma. These reviews are not fabricated—Ambrose Martin does terrible work, overcharges, and is very arrogant. For any dental work in New Orleans, please go elsewhere.

Went to his office about a month ago for an infected tooth extraction. Should have been simple, typically costs around $200 at most clinics. But he charged $195 just for an 'investigation' without doing any treatment. Then he said because I'm on blood thinners, he couldn't just extract the tooth and I 'had to' get a bridge instead to prevent bleeding—which would cost an extra $2,200-$4,000. I told him I stopped my blood thinner the day before, but he claimed it didn't matter. Felt like a total upsell. For emergency tooth extraction in New Orleans, go somewhere honest.

Well, a 1pm appointment lasted until 5pm! Unacceptable. I asked Dr. Ambrose Martin at 3pm if he'd be finished soon, and he said yes. But two hours later he was still working on her mouth. We missed a 5pm wedding, which was the whole reason we were in New Orleans. For emergency dental care, you'd expect them to respect your time.

If I could leave no stars I would. The staff besides the dentist was awesome—they were straightforward but comforting. That dentist doesn't deserve such a staff. Came in for a cracked molar, #18 I think, and we agreed I needed a crown. Then he charged $175 for x-rays, and we moved forward with pricing for an emergency crown. Ended up charging $800 and did a hack job—drilled into my cheek, tongue, and carved my gums like a Thanksgiving turkey. It gets worse but I'll stop there. For oral surgery or any dental work in New Orleans, look elsewhere.

Called to get an appointment because I'm suffering with tooth pain. The guy who answered on September 22nd at 12:50pm was very rude—rushed me, sounded irritated, like he didn't want to do his job. I asked for his name and he hung up on me. Tried calling back to speak to someone else but no answer. Simple customer service is all that's needed. For emergency dental service, you shouldn't be treated like that.
We apologize for the rude phone interaction at 24/7 Emergency Dentist LLC New Orleans, La. That's not how we want to treat patients in pain. We'll address this with our team to ensure better customer service. Please call back—we're here to help with your dental needs.
I would not recommend this dentist at all. Came in for a root canal, and he only did a partial job—never completed it. Now I have to go somewhere else and pay out of pocket to fix what he left unfinished. This place is unprofessional, the work wasn't done right, and it's clear the owner doesn't treat patients or workers with care. Avoid this place if you want quality dental work.
We're sorry your root canal therapy at 24/7 Emergency Dentist LLC New Orleans, La was incomplete. That's not the standard we aim for. We'd like to make it right—please call us to discuss how we can resolve this.
Only reason I’m giving 2 stars is because the staff, they are all so kind and compassionate. I was experiencing extreme nerve pain from a cracked wisdom tooth on Father’s Day weekend. Called the emergency number, the dentist answered, told me to be there for 1pm and apparently 4 others to be there at the same time. Which caused an ungodly wait time of TWO hours in agonizing pain for him to just give me the outrageous quote of over 800$ for a “surgical extraction”, when I asked to elaborate on why it would need to be surgical the dentist acted like I was questioning his entire career. So after 200$ down the drain and 3 hours wasted I ended up waiting the following day and got quoted 260$ for the entire tooth at a different dentist. He can definitely “squeeze” you in emergency situation but will try to take full advantage of you being in a predicament.
My mom has dementia. We had an emergency as her bridge had broken loose and danger of hurting her mouth or even swallowing it. She is a difficult patient as her dementia is stage 4. The doctor and nurses and even front desk girl were amazing with her! Saw me on a Friday evening in the middle of jazz fest, let her move at her own pace. Didn’t rush her and got her bridge out! Phenomenal I would give more stars if possible! THANK YOU for taking such sweet care of my momma. Especially when you could’ve turned me away!
Long story short, the staff was decent. The dentist was helpful but also arrogant. The upfront money to even sit down was expensive. And they’re pushy when it comes to dental procedures. I just wanted a simple extraction but they couldn’t be bothered.
When I give this dentist 1 star I am actually trying to be nice. My daughter came in needing two teeth removed and they were supposed to give her nitrous and sedation. I would not recommend this dentist to anyone, find any other dentist other than him. They charged her $350 per tooth + $150.00 sedation and the sedation didn't even help because she was wide awake the whole time. She should have never been treated like that and that was ridiculous. When looking at the sink where they rinse out the mouth it looked nasty. If they're not lucky I might just report him to the American Dental Association
I had an unpleasant experience at this dental office. I went in for a chipped tooth this past Saturday and this was the closest spot I found for walk ins. Long story short, the dentist was dismissive and rough. He didn't explain anything he was doing during my procedure and there was no effort to make sure l was comfortable.
Before numbing me, he tried to give me nitrous which I opted out of because it would have been $545.. for a small chipped tooth. The numbing part was so intense I felt it through my nose I started tearing up. He goes "well that's what the nitrous was for but you refused." I was thinking well it sounds like you don’t know how to do your job either! During the procedure, his hand placement was covering my nose making it difficult for me to breathe properly. I even raised my hand 2x but he didn't see so I spoke up. On top of that, the office felt dirty and neglected. The following day, my tooth bonding broke off!!! I let him know what happened and thankfully I was able to get a refund. I got my tooth fixed with another dentist today and they charged me only half of what they were. They also did not use nitrous or had to numb me. Please stay away if you value your life and teeth.
I'm visiting from Canada, and on Friday evening I had a filling break off, taking part of my tooth with it. I was in a panic as Sunday morning we are boarding a cruise ship, and would be unable to access dental care for the next seven days. Our hotel staff suggested Dr. Martin, who was able to get me in the next day and install a temporary crown. The procedure was explained quite clearly, and I was able to proceed with our cruise worry-free. Highly recommended!
Dr. Martin really came through for us! My husband spent the entire Thanksgiving weekend in excruciating pain, not eating or sleeping, and even went to the ER and by Sunday morning, he couldn't take anymore. I called around 10 AM and the good doctor booked us for 2:30 the same day.
I want to address the negative reviews I have seen. Dr. Ambrose was not rude to us and he never tried to pressure us to pay for more than we wanted to. He took time going over the x rays and explaining what was wrong and what my husband would ultimately need, then he gave us a minute to talk about how much we wanted to do. The lady at the front desk, who was excellent in every way, worked out a plan for us to get my husband out of pain and come back and do the rest later when he was ready for it. They were honest about everything. Maybe people think he's rude because he's quick, but for us driving from an hour and a half away and for the folks calling in with painful emergencies who are hoping he'll have a spot available for them today, it's a very good thing that he is fast-our time was not wasted like it usually is at the dentist's.
My husband says that Dr. Ambrose made sure he was taking the gas properly and checked SEVERAL times to be certain he wasn't feeling anything before he started working on him. He was nervous and the hygienist held his hand to help him relax. He walked out of the office being made fully aware of what he needed to do for his post op care, and best of all, IN NO PAIN!
And as for the appearance of the office, some folks need a reality check. No, it's not a brand new, modern office with tons of fancy equipment-if it were, you could expect to pay 7 or 8 times what Dr. Martin is charging if you had an after hours emergency. He's passing the savings on to you. Maybe a lot of people drive in from other areas who don't realize that New Orleans is an OLD city full of OLD buildings. Most other countries have similar medical offices to this one.
To summarize, Dr. Martin is a busy man who's a great dentist with an excellent staff, operating out of an older building, charging rock bottom prices and providing same-day services at odd hours when other dentists aren't open-this is a good thing, keep an open mind and go see him. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you, Dr. Martin!
This experience was BEYOND TERRIBLE AND HORRIFIC.
I should have known after the first visit that this one would too be a disaster. I also shouldn’t have ignored the red flags. Mist hood dentists have a wait, this place does next day and same day appointments.
I arrived at 10:20 and finished at 4:30.
That’s 6 hours and 10 minutes. I also arrived 10 minutes before my scheduled time and the dentist came well after. He was working in regular attire and had to change into scrubs.
I initially came in because I had a procedure don’t two weeks prior where two broken teeth were fixed. I was experiencing pain and pus coming out of my mouth where he had worked on my mouth.
When I got to the room he came in and explained to me why my mouth was hurting and said it was due do whoever did work on my mouth two years prior to him. I said okay and seemed his medical advice. He said he would fix it and not to worry.
After my mouth was numb, I sat in the chair for a long time waiting on him to come back into the room. Then he came back and started but didn’t finish so I layed in the chair maybe an hour before he came back in. The room door was open and I felt exposed. Blood dripping down my lip with Gauze stuffed in my mouth. Mouth dehydrated. You can hear him arguing with team members and talking to other patients.
He came back into the room and started working on my mouth again but getting frustrated. He scolded the dental assistant in front of me and literally had me in pain the entire time. I layed there so long without having any medical attention the anesthesia wore off. He ignored it until the dental assistant told him I needed more anesthesia.
He sprayed water and air up my nose so I couldn’t breathe. He cut my lip with an instrument and didn’t even apologize. He poked me in my lip and I almost swallowed some piece of metal or something hard. The dental assistant played a huge part and helping me because he was extremely rude. His hand placing is terrible and he covered my nose with his hand several times making it hard for me to breathe. I almost choked on my saliva because he wasn’t using the suction. He had on it and just sitting in the corner of my mouth but it wasn’t suctioning anything.
Once he completed the procedure ( me not even knowing what was done ) his receptionist came into the room with a bill for $2200. I told her I couldn’t afford it and I also didn’t know I would be charged $2200 because that wasn’t explained to me before receiving treatment. I told her he told me he would fix it and never mentioned charging me because I would have declined treatment until I was able to afford it. She went on to say that he was being nice to me because he saw I needed treatment and he could have left me in pain and left my mouth the way it was. Instead of fussing I explained that I would go somewhere else to seek more treatment because I don’t like the way I was treated and being talked at.
I walked off to sit in the waiting area and they are talking about me and yelling at me. Another patient walked in and overheard and said she’s had bad experiences with him as well. As I waited for my ride the receptionist had an attitude and you can hear them blaming me and talking about how they could have left my mouth the way it was. I explained that treatment should have been explained to me before hand before completing it and that I literally hadn’t had issues before coming here. This man was yelling how I needed a deep cleaning in front of other people.
I left and I will never be going back.
Update: the owner has responded while also falsifying information and leaking private information. This man is really sick and a joke. I spoke out on instagram and have several people with horror stories to tel
Would give zero stars if I could run from this place while you still can. They messed up my mouth for life im now 29 yrs old and missing all but 9 of my bottom teeth. Went in for wisdom teeth Was not having any other problems and always took care of my teeth he said i needed like 4 or 5 root canals which was A surprise since I always do take care of my teeth and wasn't having any typical symptoms of pain or anything well he did root canals on me without my full knowledge of what it entailed and how much it would cost. Used all the care credit they could get so i couldn't afford to go back. Also was rough at One point I started to come out and he was being so mean to his assistant literally yelling at her. Its so Sad just don't go here.
Worst place ever!!!! I wanna give him a zero but I had to give him a one!!! The place was dirty as-well as the machinery. Everything was old and the bathroom was distrusting 🤢🤢🤮🤮 . He was rough rude and unprofessional. I came in for a root canal and it took a him 6 hours to final do it and he numbed me up 4 times before actually doing it. The place stinks and he’s very aggressive with his staff. He left during the Procedure and went to the bathroom flushing the toilet and not washing his hands. The new assistants were un trained one stating that she just lost her job at Burger King and the other saying she dont know what to do . Pls run while yu can!!! These other bad reviews your seeing is not lying!!!
This place is a literal nightmare. PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE. In July 2022, I went because I had random mouth sores. Found them through Google, only one open. Got there on time, they took an X-ray, then I sat in the room for an hour and a half. The dentist Ambrose was nowhere to be found. Assistant said 'he should be coming soon.' He finally came and... I'll leave it at that. For any dental radiology or care in New Orleans, avoid this place.

We needed a dentist and found Gentilly through a Google search for an emergency dentist. Brought a friend with a chipped tooth—front office staff was nice, but we waited an extra hour and started feeling uneasy. Friend noticed things weren't clean. I walked back and asked the dentist why she couldn't get a compound instead of a temporary crown, and he got defensive like I was insulting his know-how. Just trying to ease her nerves. For dental care in New Orleans, this place didn't feel right.
