Switching from Lewisgale after three years was honestly the best move for my kid. The front staff at Carilion Children's Pediatric Medicine in Roanoke, VA are super friendly, and Ellie RN was so gentle with my son during his well-child checkup—he actually said he liked her after we left, which is a first! Dr. Kathy Amoroso has been absolutely wonderful too. Couldn't be happier with our decision to come here.
Hello, this is the Carilion Clinic Patient Advocacy Team. Thanks for sharing your experience with Carilion Children's Pediatric Medicine in Roanoke, VA. We're glad Ellie RN and Dr. Amoroso made your child's well-child checkup a positive one. We appreciate your feedback!
Honestly, I was pretty frustrated during my visit to this pediatrician in Roanoke, VA. They have separate waiting areas for sick and well kids, but no one enforces it—I was there on Monday with my baby, and another baby was coughing right in the waiting area. Plus, the staff often isn't at the check-in windows; one lady was chatting in the back while three people waited to schedule appointments. The only plus is they get you back to see the doctor pretty quickly for immunizations or other needs.

We're sorry to hear about the waiting area and check-in issues during your visit for immunizations. We'll look into this to improve our service. Please call patient advocacy at 540-981-7798 so we can learn more.
Besides a very hostile staff (middle aged long haired woman) who shouted at me at the parking lot during her lunch break, the others are friendly and efficient.

My boys have been coming here since birth and we absolutely love Dr. Craft. All of the staff are friendly and very helpful!
Thank you for sharing your family's experience, Brittany!
If I could give the nurse 5 stars, I would, but the pediatric gastroenterologist we saw at this Roanoke, VA clinic was really disappointing. We drove three hours with our 17-month-old who gets car sick, hoping for answers about his excruciating pain during bowel movements—shaking, screaming, gripping us in agony. The medication wasn't working, but the doctor wouldn't do any tests and was super nonchalant, basically saying he'd just have to stay on meds. We had to ask if we should switch it. Not what you expect from a medical clinic.
Emily, thanks for your feedback about Carilion Children's Pediatric Medicine in Roanoke, VA. We're sorry to hear about your experience with the pediatric gastroenterologist and the concerns with medication. We want to improve our care. Please call patient advocacy at 540-981-7798 so we can learn more.
Been coming to this medical clinic in Roanoke, VA since 2002—that's when I first met Dr. Christopher Pierce, who's just amazing! Now I take my little man to see Dr. Charles, and she's quickly becoming my new favorite physician. Honestly, I have nothing but good things to say about this place for pediatric care. It's been a reliable spot for years.
Thank you for sharing your experience with Carilion Children's Pediatric Medicine in Roanoke, VA. We're thrilled Dr. Pierce and Dr. Charles have provided such great pediatric care over the years. We appreciate your loyalty!
Love Dr Renick. Hes a great Doctor and does so well with children. My son Gabriel trusts him and that is what matters to me
Thank you, Andrew. We are so happy to hear about this experience!
As a first-time mom in Roanoke, VA, I was starting to feel hopeless after some transactional experiences at another pediatric office. But at the Postal location, it's totally different—the staff truly care and take their time. If I could give this place 10 stars, I would. Honestly, I hope they know how appreciated they are by so many moms, dads, and families around here for things like immunizations and checkups.
Sarah, thanks for sharing your experience with Carilion Children's Pediatric Medicine in Roanoke, VA. We're glad our staff made a difference for you as a first-time mom, especially with immunizations and care. We appreciate your kind words!
I’m going with a four , usually it would be 5 starts because everyone here is so amazing , BUT if you want a sick appt you can’t plan it ahead … you have to call the day of for an appt , which is most of the time fine but the hours listed say your open at 8am , I have been calling since 8 to get my daughter an appt and it still says you guys are closed ? It is now 8:24 - if you don’t technically open till 830 or your phones don’t cut on until 830 then that’s the hours that should be listed . I’m trying to get a jump on as we all know appointments are limited - just a little bit of an inconvenience , but aside from that we love it here and we love allllllllllll the doctors ! ESPECIALLY Dr.A
Santana, thank you for taking the time to provide us with a review of your experience.
Dr. Dalton at this pediatrician in Roanoke, VA is amazing! My 3-year-old son has always been scared of doctors, but we had an appointment for swimmer's ear, and he absolutely loved Dr. Dalton. Now he's going around telling everyone he loves his doctor and isn't scared anymore—means so much to me that he's comfortable there. Thank you, Dr. Dalton, for being so sweet to my boy during his visit.
Lauren, thanks for your review of Carilion Children's Pediatric Medicine in Roanoke, VA. We're thrilled Dr. Dalton helped your son feel comfortable during his swimmer's ear appointment. We appreciate you sharing this!
Love this clinic in Roanoke, VA! My kids have been coming here since birth—they're 14 and 10 now. We see NP Shelley Byrd, and she's absolutely amazing; my kids adore her. She's super thorough with exams and takes all the time you need to answer questions and explain the care, especially during well-child checkups. Her bedside manner is impeccable, and we're lucky to have found her. The nurses and front desk staff are always friendly and helpful too, and the clinic is clean and welcoming. It's just what you want for your family.
Hi Charli, thanks for commenting on Shelley and our staff at Carilion Children's Pediatric Clinic in Roanoke, VA. Great to hear about our commitment to patient care during well-child checkups, and we're delighted to have cared for your children as they've grown!
Dr Craft is an amazing doctor along with the other doctors and staff. We are so thankful to have had an amazingly caring office for the past 10 years and look forward to many more.
Hi Autumn, we appreciate your feedback on Dr. Craft and staff! We are glad you've had a wonderful experience and wish you many more in the future.
Dr Amoroso and Dr Donohue are our daughter's and sons' doctors, they are both awesome, honestly the back office staff are all friendly and nice . However, the reason I have given only 4 star is; the front office staff have some attitude problems, especially the lady who sits in the middle to check pt out , she is so cold and so good at ruining ppl's mood, she is full of negative energy! Front desk is the face of the office, I hope they could hire some more friendly ppl!!
Hi Sarah, thank you for the feedback. We’ll be sure to pass along to our management team.
There's absolutely no pediatric nurse practitioner better than Shelley Byrd in Roanoke, VA! Your concerns become her concerns, and she's nothing less than amazing. The staff are friendly, the nurses call back quickly, and it's a clean facility with ample parking in a great location. These are just some reasons for my rating—super happy with the care here for things like immunizations and checkups.
Thank you! We're so happy to hear that about Shelley Byrd and our team at Carilion Children's Pediatric Medicine in Roanoke, VA. Glad you're satisfied with the care for immunizations and more. We appreciate your feedback!
Dr. Donohue was condesending, very unproffesional. Would not recommend to any one with kids, go to Dr. Barnhart or go some where else, you have been warned!
Hi Joey, thank you for giving us your feedback. Would you like to speak to a patient advocate to share more about your experience? You can call 540-981-7798. Thank you!
I did not want my newborn to be a pin cushion so I adjusted his immunization schedule, this was not ok with them and they never missed an opportunity to chastise, berate or in general talk down to me. Once when my 8 month old had a basic flu they subjected him to completely unnecessary tests at an off site clinic and I over heard one of the doctors saying derisively "well, if he'd had all his shots we might not have to do all these tests!" The staff here are rude, disrespectful and condescending. It's shameful!!!
My son had a fever going on 3 days but no one seemed to care to find out what was the cause. Had to deal with a snooty nurse who acted like she was a Dr. & not to mention, I went to a sick walk in appointment & was forgot about while waiting for the Dr. for over 30 minutes while my son had a fever of 102!!
My Son has been well taking care of by Dr.Craft since four year's old ,He is now nineteen year's old and a Proud Marine. Words could never say enough ,Dr.Craft Iam So Very Grateful and want to say Thank You So Very Much for helping me care for my Love throughout those Wonderful years 😍
Absolutely love this practice in Roanoke, VA. Dr. Amoroso is amazing and so good with my little guy—never had any issues here. The appointment schedulers are super friendly and always willing to help if I need to move or cancel, which is great for busy parents. Honestly, I wish it was a bit easier to get in touch with the nurses sometimes, but overall, I'd definitely recommend this place for pediatric care and checkups.
Thanks for your feedback about Carilion Children's Pediatric Medicine in Roanoke, VA. We're glad Dr. Amoroso and our schedulers have provided great care for your child's checkups. We'll look into improving nurse communication. We appreciate your recommendation!
My wife took our 4-year-old daughter to this office in Roanoke, VA for a cough that kept getting worse. The doctor said it was a viral infection and prescribed cough medicine, but two days later, it got worse and her ears hurt. She went back, and the same doctor found an ear infection. Both times, she had appointments but waited over 30 minutes in the room before being seen. This location seems very busy, and I think the staff and doctors are overwhelmed, rushing kids through without quality care. They billed us for it too.
Thanks for sharing your experience with Carilion Children's Pediatric Medicine in Roanoke, VA. We're sorry to hear about the wait times and care concerns during your daughter's visits for cough and ear infection. We'll review this to improve our service and ensure better quality pediatric care.
