Many years ago, my son was having issues and we met Counselor Victoria Rosenberg in Roanoke, VA, recommended by Dr. Pineda. We'd seen lots of specialists, but nothing helped until Victoria. She was so patient, treating my son like her own. Now he's 18 and, thank God, never needed medication—he got better mentally, physically, and emotionally. For chronic condition management or emotional problems in Roanoke, I highly recommend her.
Hello, this is the Carilion Clinic Patient Advocacy Team reaching out. Thank you for the positive feedback about Counselor Rosenberg at Carilion Children's in Roanoke, VA. We're happy she helped with your son's chronic condition management. We appreciate your kind words.
Tried to set up an appointment at Carilion Children's in Roanoke, VA. The person said they only see patients and this isn't an urgent care, asking 'are you planning on becoming a patient?' Well, I guess not anymore! What's wrong with people these days? For a pediatrician in Roanoke, that's just not how you treat someone needing help.

At Carilion Children's in Roanoke, VA, there needs to be a separation between sick and well patients. I took my 6-month-old and 5-year-old for well visits and waited 40 minutes in the same area as people with colds, body aches, and vomiting. Two days later, my 5-year-old is sick. If I bring my kids for well-child checkups in Roanoke, I'd appreciate keeping them well—this needs fixing or we'll find care elsewhere.
Hello, this is the Carilion Clinic Patient Advocacy Team at Carilion Children's in Roanoke, VA. We're sorry your well-child checkup was affected by the waiting area setup. We value your feedback and will review this to improve patient safety. Please call us at 540-981-7798 to discuss further.
Honestly, we had an amazing experience meeting Dr. Myers at Carilion Children's in Roanoke, VA. She was so kind and thorough during our well-child checkup, spending tons of time examining my kid and answering all our questions without rushing. Her friendly approach made us feel super comfortable. If you're looking for a pediatrician in the Roanoke area who genuinely cares, Dr. Michele Myers is the one. We absolutely loved her!

Mason in the call center at Carilion Children's in Roanoke, VA, showed no urgency for my child's health. I called about medication my son needs, waiting almost 24 hours, and he was rude, just saying 'someone will be in contact.' My 2-month-old is suffering, and the check-in desk staff are always rude too. I'm looking for a new pediatrician in Roanoke who actually cares about kids' health, not just a paycheck.

Service at Carilion Children's in Roanoke, VA, is awful! Paperwork is behind, literally the worst. I'm finding my kids a better primary pediatrician in Roanoke and filing a complaint. Lazy! Want a call from the supervisor about this mess.

Carilion Children's in Roanoke, VA, never answers the phone. To schedule a well-child visit, start calling months in advance! They don't call back either. My kids have had to go to urgent cares for a year because of this. Horrible facility for pediatric care in Roanoke.

I'm disappointed in Angela & her team at Carilion Children's in Roanoke, VA. At a follow-up at Rockbridge Health Care Center, I was told to call ENT because my 3-year-old has a knot below his right ear and a nasty infection in the ear with a non-working tube. The doctor felt he should see ENT since I just saw Angela on January 28th. I informed the nurse yesterday at 10am, but never heard back about sick visits or anything.

They never answer the phone. I've been calling for 2 days now and the Cardiologist office WILL NOT answer the phone. Cannot even reschedule an appointment which is ridiculous to me. I'm a new patient and it makes me not even want to step foot in that office to be seen. I've called and tried to speak with supervisors, but they do not answer either. I've called and spoke with a patient advocate and they say they will help, but no they don't help either. Just about to give up on this place and haven't even been seen there yet.

Never answer the phone… tried scheduling an earlier appointment for my one month old daughter for reasons & they never answered. Have been calling for 45 minutes to get one person to answer and before even getting a word out they hung up… We will be switching offices. My daughters one month old and only been seen one time by these people. they do not care about you.

Sara Shepard is truly a blessing ! She's been so great with my son Jaxen , he's nonverbal autistic & it's usually hard to get a connection. But the whole family loves her so much ! This whole process has been far from easy , but she's helped , and guided us the whole way 🩵
Hello, this is the Carilion Clinic Patient Advocacy Team. Thank you, Sarah. We are so happy to hear about this experience!
Tried calling for my child a sick apppintment, they told me they had one appointment left and was about to schedule it, then denied my child an appointment due to having a cough. No child should ever be denied an appointment from a pediatricians office and it shouldn’t be the front desk people who decides that.

Since 2018, I've trusted Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, VA, with my three preemie children. They're cared for by the most qualified specialists, even before the clinic was built. Never had issues with phone calls or getting seen quickly—they truly care. My experience has always been positive; I moved to Roanoke just for this pediatric care. That says something! Keep up the great work with newborn care and everything else.
Hi Mercedes, this is the Carilion Clinic Patient Advocacy Team. Thanks for sharing your experience at Carilion Children's in Roanoke, VA. We're glad we've provided reliable newborn care for your preemies since 2018. We appreciate your trust!
My experience at Carilion Children's in Roanoke, VA, was awful two years ago when my daughter had seizures—they were supposed to send medication and never did. Gave them another chance with my son: drove an hour and a half in a snowstorm, called ahead, had a 15-minute grace period, arrived at 1:09 for a 1pm appointment, got checked in by 1:17, and they denied seeing us. If 2 minutes inconveniences these doctors in Roanoke, no way I'm letting them sedate my son.

I looooove carilion. I have been to 3 different departments and every time had an amazing experience. I am convinced the kindest and most intelligent doctors work at Carilion in Roanoke. Recently my daughter had an issue that her pediatrician kept insisting was normal even though she was in pain. As a mother I was unwilling to accept that. One trip to Carilion and the cause was immediately spotted and treated. I love this place and will drive an hour no question to see the amazing doctors there.
Hello, this is the Carilion Clinic Patient Advocacy Team. Thank you for taking the time to provide us with a review of your family's experience!
I chose to self pay at another provider just to get quality care! That should tell you how awful this place is to deal with.
I can't even go into great detail, because of the nature of the situation. However, I've never been given more conflicting information from staff, had as many issues, or seen as many doctors (other than the primary care doctor) as I have here. The doctors are nice, sure. But anything to do with paperwork, scheduling, policies, just awful. I've found myself coming in multiple times to take care of various issues that needlessly arose, which then became my job to fix, of course.
I think Carilion is going downhill, because as an adult, scheduling is already a nightmare (having to chase down appointments because no one calls you to schedule, etc). Too big for their britches, I suppose, considering all the expansions.
We called to get a sick appointment for our daughter and were transferred to a voicemail. We received a call an hour later from someone who said we had to leave a voicemail on the nurse line. They transferred us to an automated system that asked for the number we were trying to reach. We tried calling back and have been unable to reach anyone. We are now scrambling to get her seen at an urgent care. This is just awful.

I called this office specifically the GI clinic on April 28th about my child, no one answers the Nurse line. I called for the whole week and received no return call. I called the general clinic and spoke with a Nurse Beth who walked over to the clinic and gave them my information to call me back. No one returned the call. Its the first time I'm dealing with a group of healthcare people that gives me anxiety and I distrust. Their lack of care is astounding. Today is August 5th and I have been calling Gi since 11am this morning about a sick child and no one has returned my call.
I took my infant there with weight loss diarrhea and vomiting and absolutely nothing was done. The Doctor wrote in the notes that the child has no weight loss and left out qhat inreported. I am the mother of the child holding the child everyday i should know when her weight goes up or down without even needing a scale.. The baby has gained only 12oz in a whole month when her regular weight gain is 90z per week. Her chart shows her normal weight gain trend and and since it has decreased significantly I would hope a pediatric professional would see that as a cause for concern because that is below the average weight gain for any child below six months.

I traveled an hour to have my 2 week old daughter seen, and I am thankful they were able to see her. The nurse and receptionist were very nice and professional, even though it was close to the time for the office to close. The dr that seen my daughter was an Asian dr, and I apologize that I don't remember her name, but at first she was nice and explained things well. As the time went past closing, her speech sped up and she was rushing through explaining things. So as I was getting ready to leave, I had one more question. I asked the nurse could I ask and she said sure, and showed me to her office. The nurse told the dr I had one more question, and I seen with my own eyes, the dr throw her head back and made a face like "what she want now". Again, I know it's a Saturday and they were past closing time by this time but I'm a concern 1st time mom and that really made me upset but I didn't say anything but thank you.
